Since I have joined Armorgams . . .I see a lot of Atheists and their threads about why people believe in God etc . . . I wanted to start a thread about the bible and christianity.

The purpose of this thread is to debate a different book of the bible each week. We will discuss lessons, morals, and different stories.

We will have friendly debates. Please . . . if you are atheist or of other beliefs . . . you may discuss in this thread, just PLEASE no fighting, flaming, spamming, trolling . . . etc

This week we will begin from the beginning . . . .Genesis

Try convincing a Catholic of that. They will continue sprinkling holy water on babies all the same.

Baptism is an important ritual in Christian faiths. Baptizism is symbolic for Jesus "washing away your sins." Jesus died for us allowing man to be saved and to enter heaven. It also washes away original sin. All Christian faiths practice this on people of any age. Mormons symbolic baptize the dead I heard.....

There is a reference of Pharisees doing something similar as well in (I think) The Acts of the Apostles.

I though some where in John that Jesus was baptized. So there's another reference.

Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
Baptism was seen as in some sense necessary for salvation, until Zwingli in the sixteenth century denied its necessity.

With all the differences of the early churches there is no way that they would all back that idea. Besides they knew you didn't have to take the thief off the cross and dunk him in water for him to go to heaven.

I was Lutheran, and I'm under the impression that MOST Protestant and Catholic churches baptize people. I was baptized when I was like 6 or so.

What kind of Christian are you balerion7? just asking.

funny. I'm more mature than 70% of the kids here. Not to mention; I have been around longer on AG than you and I have not encounter that slang before. Why do I have to tell you my age on an internet forum any way?

I am a Nondenominational Pentecostal. And yes we baptize people. You just don't need it to make it to heaven.

Funny, you are less mature than 100% of the adults here. If you haven't read into that slang before it is because you simply have ignored it.

^ohhhh

One of my close friends is involved in a Nondenominational church. He said kinda the same thing. He said "You don't NEED to be baptized to go to heaven, but if your a Christian you should be." Would that statement be correct in your eyes?

I never said I was an adult. Besides, who's an adult you know on AG that you are comparing me to?
