I was gone all last week on a vacation to Tombstone arizona. Many of you have probably seen the movie (Val kilmer, kurt russel, go rent it if you havent its a great movie) Anyways, i took plenty tours and read enough books. In the 1800s prostitution became a great buisness moneywise, in almost every city. It was perfectly legal than, and required a buiness license to continue the only womans oldest profession. What im asking though, is it right? Its legal in nevada, maybe some other places in the U.S. It was a successful buisness because of all the mining cities, 1 woman for every 100 men in most boomtowns, and many men were left sexual dry. Prostitutes were a way for men to complete these needs.
Should it be legal? Why or why not? Look at it from a religous view if you want, though i know all you christians (including mysef) already know the answer. But in this century should it be legal?
Prostitution is bad in general. It spreads STI's more, it causes married men to cheat, some prostitutes get beat and murdered, or cheated of their money. It's not right to go around and sell your body. It's just wrong, period.
So if you say prostitution is ok, or should be legal, or cool. Your most likely a guy or already a prostitute. And if your a guy, your probably a pervert. So say no to prostitution, it causes more problems then it solves. Because it only solves one problems, sex.

Legalizing prostitution would cut down on all of those things.
It should be legal just look at the brothels in places where it is legal they check the girls and everything, in places where it's illegal the woman are mistreated by their pimps and are in bad condition.
He has a point. Usually making something legal improves the quality of the service, as the government is now able to place regulations on it. Abortion is one example of this. If it was illegal girls would resort to cutting their stomachs open. Whether you're against or for abortion you can't say that you want girls to do that. It's the same concept in prostitution. Right now people get STDs, girls get beat up, etc. because the government isn't able to set regulations.

I'd rather have government regulation than pimp regulation. Pimps get their prostitutes hooked on heroin or cocaine on purpose. So the money they earn goes straight to drugs (which the pimps sell to them). Pimps have no problem murdering their "workers" if they try to leave.
If there were government regulations and rules, pimping would be cut down big time. If the women had control over their lives, and were able to decide for themselves if they want to prostitute, then it would cut down on all the crime.

Your assertion that it increases the rate of the spread of STIs is flatly wrong.
Married men who *want* to sleep with prostitutes will do it whether it's legal or not - and besides, that's the mistake of that particular married man. That's like making cars illegal because *some* people are poor drivers and get into car accidents.
As for prostitutes getting beat, murdered, or stolen from - those are all problems that are fixed by legalizing & tightly regulating the practice. When you have the cops on your side, and even private security - it minimizes any difficulties with the clients.
And you didn't explain *why* it's supposedly wrong to sell your body, so without a reason, that just falls apart.
Married men cheat either cause there horny which they can have sex with an illegal prostitute anyway or there is something wrong with the marriage which indicates they shouldnt be married.
Prostitution needs to be regulated by the government so that the subjects doing their dirty work are sure to be free of any unwanted illnesses. The new pimps should be the tax payers!
