I was gone all last week on a vacation to Tombstone arizona. Many of you have probably seen the movie (Val kilmer, kurt russel, go rent it if you havent its a great movie) Anyways, i took plenty tours and read enough books. In the 1800s prostitution became a great buisness moneywise, in almost every city. It was perfectly legal than, and required a buiness license to continue the only womans oldest profession. What im asking though, is it right? Its legal in nevada, maybe some other places in the U.S. It was a successful buisness because of all the mining cities, 1 woman for every 100 men in most boomtowns, and many men were left sexual dry. Prostitutes were a way for men to complete these needs.
Should it be legal? Why or why not? Look at it from a religous view if you want, though i know all you christians (including mysef) already know the answer. But in this century should it be legal?
I think its derived from capitalism or a variation of that economic system
prostitution is known as the oldest profession in the world. it works in every society and under every economic system. so unless the ancient cultures such as greece or rome hav been capitalists, than prostitution comes from capitalism. but as far as i know capitalism as we know it has been founded in the 18th century. until then pimps and prostitutes have been quite established in every country
I say the prostitute has to be on birth control and a condom must be used. If that's the case then YES it should be legal. Why not? People are going to do it no matter what you minus well make it legal so regulations can be made.
They do that now... you don't see many pregnat hookers
Legalizing would probably make it less popular and lessen the rampant spread of STD's what I mean is that the forbidden fruit always tastes better so if its legal it wouldn't give as much of a thrill as it would normally.
Prostitution is down right wrong, God said that he would create man a partner and that these two people would become one in a sense. Sex is for wives and husbands, nobody else, for these two together with no one else, if this is what happens, STD's are cut massively because whores that sleep with several men are not involved?? AND WHAT KINDA QUESTION IS THIS ON A SITE FULL OF CHILDREN?? SERIOUS WHAT THE HELL?

Not everyone believes in your god - in fact, a majority of the world does not subscribe to the Christian dogma. Why on Earth should we follow *your* rules?
And seconding Green's post. The World Events, Politics, Religion, Etc. forum is full of threads and topics that are more 'mature'. If they were too offensive for the site, I'm sure the moderators would clamp down on topics like these, but they haven't - ergo, they're suitable.
I think they should leave it all alone. If the man wants to do that and maybe catch a disease then let him. I dont think it should be legal or illegal.
I beleive Prostitution is morally incorrect, it is a way of spreading STD's if there was a way to vaccinate STD's then i would think it would be okay.
As said before in this thread, the legalization of prostitution would in fact decrease the spread of STDs, since prostitutes would need to be checked on a regular bases for STDs
I take the libertarian view when it comes to prostitution. It's pretty simple really. A woman (or man) should have the right to sell his/her body to another person. The body is private property, and restricting what one is able to do with it is not the job of the government. Currently spending millions of dollars each year restricting this mostly victimless practice seems very wasteful. When you consider that the vast majority of the danger would be taken out of the trade through legalisation and would undercut and end the illicit, often brutal human trafficking trade, I see no logical argument as to why it should remain illegal.
Like has been said, the current way of prostitution does spread stds. However if it was legal, it would cut the spread. Girls would have to have a license, weekly std check ups, plus the government could tax their earnings.
tf? what the hell are we doing? KIDS ARE HERE..... i agree wid green... seriously tf! prostitution shouldnt be legal because they get pregnat and kleave there kids at an orphanage to be never adopted! there are no pluses to prostitution thats why its illegal. like smoking soon will be.
