I am a hunter and a die hard shooter I love guns. I go to a very liberal school were every thinks guns are evil and they kill people. I am entirely against this and would like to hear what other people say about guns or argue about how they are used.

Culture has changed I think 20 years ago there weren't all these games like grand theft auto and shows like C.S.I people are generally getting more irresponsible there was actually a kid on the news who shot and killed his dad and injured his mom because they were making him stop playing halo. Gun education may help but it won't completely solve the problem just like sex ed if two kids really want to they will still do it. I think it all comes down to parenting teaching their kids about guns and why not to use them so when they grow up they are more respectful of the power of guns. But sadly I do not foresee all the parents in america doing that.

Look at Mexico. They banned guns, and the drug lords basically own the country. If our guns are taken away do you think crime rates will drop? Picture this: A thief walks into a town where owning guns is encouraged. In fact, most everyone owns a gun. Now imagine a thief walking into a town where guns are illegal. Do you think he cares whether guns are legal or not? No, because he'll already be breaking the law by breaking in. So he has the advantage, because he knows the nobody owns a gun. They're sitting ducks. And if by chance someone does own a gun and shoots the thief, the thief would take the person who is protecting their home to court. And the thief would win.

So, is it better to have nobody own guns and leave civilians exposed to criminals who can easily get guns off of the black market? Or should we allow those civilians to follow their Constitutional right to bear arms and protect their family and property?

I think we should have a different class of citizen. If you want to carry a gun, you should have to go to a year of training. Availiable at your local college. This would give you the right to carry any type of firearm. The training would be very military in nature, and would create a pedistool for a higher class of citizen who has earned the right to carry and use weapons. These people would be like the volenteer police. With the amount of these people added to the local area, crime with weapons would go down, accidental discharge of guns would be almost non existant, and land value would go up.

right because only decent citizens would attend this training.

weapon crimes are mostly planned or result because people carry guns around all the time.

and i really dont know if i would feel safe if a bunch of guys with guns, who think they play sheriff now would make me feel safe in any way

Exactly finally some intelligent people. If you look at crime rates and guns you will find a pattern. In vermont they have the easiest gun laws in North America They also have the lowest crime rate in North america. In Switzerland every person beetween the ages of 18 and 40 i think has an assault rifle and they have some of the lowest crime rates in the world
Dude kickass I live in vermont in the most redneck area a little border town named Enosburg Falls and almost everyone has a gun. We also do stupid stuff i.e. shoot out the car windows at animals but I am against gun control. Beside you try to take away my gun ill shoot you in the ass

I think that guns are okay as long as they are used for recreation, hunting, protection, or by a police officer. I like guns myself, and I think that it should not be illegal for someone to own a gun.

I think I'm changing my position on guns, guns should only be aloud to rent for hunting or something. And the only reason I say that is because without hunting the deer population would be too large.

Think that guns are all fun and games, huh? Why don't you tell that to all the families of soldier's killed in Iraq and Afghanistan? Perhaps you should tell that to the families of victims at Virginia Tech. Guns are bad! Guns are not your friends!

In future, I'll have Magnum, Sniper rifle, revolver, etc... because I really love weapons, but not for kill animals.

Indeed, I'd prefer to kill an human than an animal. I'd hunt hunters. I really hate people that hunt without sense with a weapon 1000x time nature could make. Why people don't hunt just with a knife? Then I'd allow to hunt, but not with a fire weapon.

Well, if it's legal or it's not people will continue having weapons so doesn't matter. Weapons are not bad or good, just the people that use 'em.

There was a graph posted in a thread somewhere on this site that concluded violent games had the same effect on people that violent pornography has, as people simulate it they lose their will to go out and actually do it because it's right in front of them this way.

Well, my social studies teacher says it's a FBI statistic that the more guns in an area, the less crime.

So I can't hunt anymore? What if we live in the country and a bear attacks us? By the time animal controls gets there, were screwed over.

levelling the playing field is a phrase meaning having an equal chance
