Playing a game on this site, I recently began to wonder, is it all worth it? I mean, are video games, and Flash games really worth our time? Granted, video games are a form of entertainment, no different than movies or television, but video games are starting to become more time consuming than any other form of entertainment. People are starting to become addicted and spend all their time playing video games.
Iâm certainly not one to speak. I wouldnât want to try to count all the hours Iâve spent playing on Armor Games. But in the end, is it all worth it? Is there anyone here who will be on their deathbed thinking âI wish I played more video games during my life?â
What if we took all the time we spent playing video games and did something else? Like spending time with our family, or friends, or taking our dog for a walk, or helping an old lady across the street? What if we started volunteering our time to help others instead of play video games? Wouldnât the world be a better place?
When it comes down to it, anything we do on this website is nothing but a bunch of 1âs and 0âs, just electronic data that at the end of the day doesnât mean anything. Iâm thinking about deleting my Armor Games account for this exact reason, because I feel like my time could be better spent. But Iâm also curious to hear what you have to say. What do you think?

To some of us it is, to some of us it isn't. I am one of those who, believe it or not, falls into the second category. But just because I don't like most of the games here doesn't mean there isn't other things on the site to do.
video games are starting to become more time consuming than any other form of entertainment.
That is also an opinion. Some people have other (pointless) ways of entertaining themselves that are more time consuming (to them) than videogaming. I won't get into details.
What if we took all the time we spent playing video games and did something else?
Okay, it seems as though you've drifted from flash games to video games. There is a difference, even if you are one of those who cannot tell it.
What if we started volunteering our time to help others instead of play video games?
Hm, unless you're like me and don't play the games very often and actually spend your time doing semi-constructive things on the forums. So, just quit the games and come on the forums.
As for games, they're no more morally wrong as TV was in the '60s.
AG isn't morally wrong then, but people's decision to sit on it all day are :P
But no, I'm sure if everyone who played computer games put their time into volunteering or... curing cancer (although that would take more skill than getting a high-score...) then the world would be a better place right?
Well, no actually. Think of how much money is in the video games industry. If people didn't play the games, people wouldn't MAKE them. So you're just putting people out of work. That's never a good thing!
We all need time to relax and let the brain rest a bit, so like everything else in life: AG is fine, in moderation =]
Umm, well I think that nothing is morally wrong. Just because people choose to have fun rather than help others, that's not morally wrong. We can't spend our entire lives helping others: that's a waste of our lives. Not in the sense that helping others isn't worthy, but in the sense that you live life to have fun, see what I'm saying? Just because we choose not to help others doesn't make us morally wrong. And very few people are actually addicted to flash games, they're just a little escape from work and school and whatnot. A little fun, and timewaster. There are far, far worse things. And another thing: even if all I just said was null, and doing this is actually morally wrong, it wouldn't be AG's fault. They're just here to provide a little relief for the average person. What people do in their time is their business, and it's not your place to decide whether what they do is morally correct. I doubt anyone can judge another person on their moral correctness without being hypocritical. That's my input.
I don't think its morally wrong sure your time could be better spent doing more productive things but everyone needs something they can just chill with.
Well, having fun online is not morally wrong, so I would have to say no. I come on here to play fun games and talk. Better than talking to stalkers on myspace.
Your train of reasoning would lead to a whole bunch of odd conclusions, and I'm pretty sure it's actually some logical fallacy that I can't remember. Regardless, it's not a sin to enjoy yourself. To do so in excess would be the sin of sloth, but in moderation I don't see games as intrinsically bad.
Nope, AG isn't morally wrong. Sure, our time could be spent better, but we're not doing anything wrong or causing trouble by being on here. Also through debating I've learned a lot of stuff I wouldn't have known other wise.
