I think it is bad. No crime is bad enough to kill someone over. Just let them rot in jail.

But then they're using space and money that we don't have. We could just give the people with life sentences the death penalty, thus saving millions of dollars and a ton of space in jails.

Ok dude, they're seriously almost the same if you think about it. Usually when someone gets a life-time in jail, they can become suicidal, almost making it just as bad. >.<

Oh ya? Really? I just saw one of the worst videos of my life. I'm not one to drift out of threads, but this does it. You people want to see why they deserve it? Take a look at three guys one hammer in the pop media section. Get a taste of what murder looks like. If it's still there when you get there.

I'd rather you not though. I don't want to get banned, I'm just using it as an example of why murderers deserve to die.

Sorta pretaining to what you said TSL3, or just reminding me. I have heard some people say that the murderer should recieve the same death as the one they committed, or close to it. That brings up another thing, is putting the person to death enough, or do you really want them to feel it?

I want them to feel it. I want them to die a torturous death, but keep it short. I find human rights activists that find murderers human need to see what they have done. Then we'll see their reactions. When you stab someone or beat someone or shoot someone, do they feel it? Yes, they do. Should a murderer feel it? Yes they should. Only twofold or threefold.

Which is why my favorite is the electric chair.

Frankly, I'm totally for the death penalty. My biggest concern is wrongful execution, however.

Moreover, What's the point of a life sentence? If the point is to never let them into the general public again, then why spend thousands making sure that never happens to ONE PERSON when you could receive the same effect (That being never letting them into the public again) with the death penalty.

And I completely agree with TSL3's above statement, especially after, lacking common sense, I clicked on the most horrifying, disgusting, and enraging video I have ever seen. They MUTILATED THAT MAN. For kicks. They deserve to rot, and the faster they do, the better.

My point: Life sentence = useless and expensive.

My thoughts may just be blocked by spite, though.

Don't forget about r.apeists and war criminals. The punishment should fit the crime.

That extends to rapists and war criminals. In fact, in my own opinion, ra.pe should be a capital offense, like the olden days.

i agree with the_manta. they do need to feel it and a life sentence is stupid. but i think they should be absolutely sure that this is the person that commited the crime before they execute them. which is why the life sentence also had a good side. before they started relieng on DNA evidence alot of innocent people were put in jail. the only thing that saved them was that they were in there so long their case was started up again and they were still in prison instead of being executed

life sentence=good for holding people until your sure they did it

Yes, the Life Sentence is pretty much the equivalent of stasis until one is assured that the person there has done wrong. But that doesn't explain why there are so many disgusting people taking up the jails. There are cases where the criminal is put in jail with a life sentence, and that's that. Why? Why not get it over with the and there?

Yeah, Life is pointless and expensive. Its a shame that capital-punishment isn't used as often.

Texas uses it once a week on average, but still not enough. Still spending 10 years on death row. Should be immediately in my opinion.

Definitely for. I don't want to sound brutal, but...come on. It's just practical. We waste a lot of money giving people comfort(stupid activists demand that the prisons don't be in too bad of shape. The whole point of jail is not to be comfortable, you (word has been removed by author) and to be punished, not to be living well! I'll tell you right now, there are people who haven't done a thing wrong in their lives living in far worse conditions than the people in jail. How is that in any way fair? But I'm getting off topic.
Like I said, I'm all for capital punishment. Not only does it save money, some people just deserve to die. Murderers. Torturers. And in my mind, torture is worse than murder. I could almost say I was for the eye for an eye punishments: murderers are killed, torturers are tortured, but I don't quite have the stomach for that. Too brutal. Anyway, not only is the death penalty practical, it is sometimes truly what needed to be done. Sometimes people are just evil. And deserve to die, not only because of what they've done, but what they could do. Like TSL and manta, I had the misfortune to click a link to a horrifying and gruesome murder. Not only did those kids MUTILATE that guy, and as if torture and murder wasn't bad enough, they had the nerve to POST IT ON THE INTERNET, and scar other, innocent kids for life. Such ignorant people....Case in point. Those kids tortured(mentally and physically) and murdered over a dozen people, and what was their punishment? Life in jail. They should be dead. Not to sound paranoid, but what if they escape? See how much those activists thought they were human when those...those...things came knocking at their doors. I say capital punishment fits some crimes. And although I am worried about incorrect convictions, there is no perfect thing in life. We will just have to tighten our judgment. But is it really fair to let murderers post bail? Or to let torturers live their life in a comfy cell? Of course not! If you can't think of the victims themselves(and I know it's hard to grasp the concept of such pain and misery), then think of the families, what they must be going through. To see a loved one's body mutilated like that; just for fun. And then to see the ones responsible living out their lives in a nice cell. Is this really what we want? I say capital punishment.
