A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

There were 15 entries I think that is enough.

15 entries is enough.

Unless you guys wouldn't mind this getting judged on Saturday, I'm open to a ***qualified*** individual taking up the helm this time. I will request that the new topic and deadline is not given; I've had something planned for awhile now.

You say thousand words
are not enough to say this.
How much are they worth?

@Quirinus1, the deadline already passed, your poem doesn't count. I don't even think it matches the theme.

Just played four hours of paintball, and I think I'm getting the flu. However, I promised the judging, so this pathetic attempt at it is what you get. I'll just write the top five, and the winners.

If anyone would like a critique of their haiku, message me the haiku and state so on my profile. Messages without a haiku will not be responded to.

Again, I apologize, but I'm really not feeling good.

Congratulations Hahiha! Please contact a moderator or administrator for your merit.

This round will be something special. For various reasons, I've decided to retire from judging the contest. That being said, I will be judging this round much more strictly than rounds previous. I'll be looking for the immaculate haiku, and also a previous record of immaculacy. The first place winner will be offered the spot, and if they decline, second, third, etc.

To help level the playing field, the new theme will be broad. Very broad. In fact, the new theme is Nature. Anything and everything that relates to nature is fair game: Waterfalls, birds, trees, and dirt. The deadline is October 4th.

Happy Haiku'ing.

The birds are chirping
This day the sun is shining
Life is now complete

Waters will flow again
In the little creek that was
Once giver of life

You can only submit one haiku per round. You need to decide which one its going to be.

My Flower In The Morning

Oh why do you weep?
Tears drown you face and,
I just wish you'd dry.

Symbolism FTW. I put a tile because I felt that would help explain. If anyone has a question though please ask.

Oops only four syllables in the first line.

Nature

From your moutain tops,
To your great valleys and streams
You are beautiful.

Thank you dair5 for pointing that out.

Forest Serenity
The serene forest,
The calm silence approaches
As I come to you.

This isn't very good. I made it while I was 8 and I found it to see what you think. Remember, 8 So it's very bad.
