A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

The gentle aged elm
whispering proverbs, portends,
ubiquitous nil.

I'll come up with Emerging Growth later.

@Graham, I'd make a quick change. All of your words in the 2nd and 3rd line are very unique. Maybe too unique... Maybe just a few wide spread vocab words per line. It's funny to read...

Has anyone realized how far away the deadline is? Perhaps too far away?

It is only 15 days. 5 extra days because there will be a transition of judges after the first 5 days(or when Mav. gets a chance to choose the new judge.)

Has anyone realized how far away the dead line is?

I explained all in my post.
__________
First off, kudos to you five who made it into the special round. You all submitted excellent works, and it was quite challenging to pick a winner when there was no clear-cut choice.

That being said, I've decided that Acmed will be the new judge. His haiku really captured the theme quite well, using clear language that hit the nail on the head. He has been fairly consistent in the past, and has what I think it will take to do the job well.

In the event that Acmed does not want the position, we'll have to draw numbers or something. I do not exaggerate to say that there was a three way tie for second place. Sadly, King Lemon didn't enter.

Congratulations to Acmed, and I wish everyone luck for the future.

For the last time, Happy Haiku'ing.

Mav out.
