A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

I missed the deadline... however, I want to submit for the sake of the writing opportunity.

You didn't miss the deadline. That's on the 28th. The one earlier was for a specialized group to see who will judge (which I won). You can write a haiku for this week's theme: Emerging Growth.

I am comfortable with submitting this:

Beneath the soil
Awaits untapped potential
Spring -- life flourishes

I like it. I'm not sure if you intended to match the theme or not... But it's fine. I accept.

Hiding in the dirt
Should I appear? I'm nervous.
They can see me now!

~I was going with the theme of emerging confidence, a kind of self growth~

I can make my motif more clear:

The first two lines are talking about seeds,
and the third line is about their 'emerging growth' during the Spring.

I understand now. Thank you. I accept.

I don't see what the 'east side' has to do with Emerging Growth. If you want to just post haikus, post them here instead.

I hope I'm posting the correct kind of haiku for the contest.
Anyway...

Boldly, it points up
slowly, it climbs out, tall, proud
its small green buds yawn

I did my best.

Flower Blooms

Dew dripping down stem.
The flower's bloomed, red and wide.
Seedling's head shines bright.

Ah, child birth. In personifcation/symbolism! I'm a sick, sick boy.
