Is god willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both willing, and able?
then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him god?

they just know that there is someone they cant see who loves them, and they love him

Santa?

I have taken a lot of dipping into atheism specifically lately because I need it. If it's correct, I will be able to detach myself from my "cult", and if it's incorrect, then I will be able to defend my beliefs more accurately.

More power to you on this endeavor BigP08. Since you seem to be interested in understanding atheistic views, here's a few youtube vids that can give you an idea on this. There are a lot of good videos for both sides on youtube. I recommend you do some searching for yourself and see what's on there. Now I'm not saying stop there but it is a nice start of seeing other peoples POVs.

My Story: How I Became An Atheist

This guy has some interesting facts on religion.

These might give you a few question to ask yourself.

Also take a look at this guys videos he often uses the bible to disprove the bible.

Like I said before, if you would have read the thread from the beginning, you would know what's really going on.
Absolutely no one here is trying to "convert" believers into non-believers ... In fact, if you would have read earlier posts, we even stated such. We are more or less debating on the bible, and yes, whether there is a god or not. However I personally have yet to see a post on this thread that told someone that believing in God is ridiculous ... No one person can say, with any certainty, that God exist or that he doesn't ... hence, it was quite arrogant of you to ASSUME we stated that, when we have not.

Why? It's true ya know? God isn't real

If there is free will but God wants to get rid of evil, the God can't exist.

I got smart to realize that there was nothing to say anything to me.

O no... but there isn't anyone saying God doesn't exist, or any form of brainwashing... I now fully understand, u were right the whole time!!!! =0...

sources are by your best athiest buddy valk btw... =)

I never said that ... I said, "NO ONE IS STATING THAT BELIEVING IN GOD IS RIDICULOUS". As far as the brainwashing statement, that was made by an agnostic (someone who believes that God is unknowable) who was trying to state that religion and the bible tend to be integrated into young children's minds when they are at a vulnerable stage in their life. HE is NOT stating there is OR is not a God.
As far as the statements by valkyrie, since they were totally taking out of context by you, I cannot defend them because I do not understand them on their own. However, I don't believe he ever stated "for certain, there is not a God" .

Who stated this? Nonconformist, YOU are totally taking sentences and adding them on to my post when you quote me, as if I posted them.
If you are going to quote different people, quote them separately.
I personally don't believe anyone has the evidence to prove or disprove God, therefore I would never state the above.

How is that? I was raised catholic for 14 years and CHOOSE to be an agnostic... no offense but I think IT'S YOU who's not open to change or you would give what I'm saying a chance because you know it makes sense.

Alright, but did you ever give being an agnostic or atheist a chance? Also, how was I closed minded again? I listened to you, gave it a chance and disagreed, can't you listen you listen to what I said and give it a chance?

Well here a weird thought for religion:

2000 B.C. A man runs into Jerusalem screaming I heard a voice being the Ignorant early humans they believed him a wrote this crap down. Sometime after maybe around 1000 B.C. A baby is orphaned and the people think that is a sign. After about 20 years the person walks around a street corner and someone screams GASP he made the river run red with blood, but in reality think of the wars and the wine, well someone made a mistake and put wine in the water barrels and they thought he turned water into wine he tried explaining but they thought ARRRGG EVIL pinned him to a cross and this dude bled to death oh and you all know who Im talking about, after his death they thought he wasnt lieing about being hearing voices either because when they could find the body some years later they thought an angel came and took him nope, he just decomposed and the skeleton turned into dust..........Religion has been explained.

and yes I use bad grammar

Theres a time in religion where you have to take a stand. And being a christian and giving atheism or agnosticism a chance is considered putting your faith on the line

You might become stronger for it, though. I did.

Thanks for the links, MageGrayWolf.

I have thought about it, but why would you want to live in a world wit out a God ?? .... and for get I said that I was out of line. And I have listen to what you said, and I understand were you were coming from, I just cant see how or why I would want to live in a world wit out a God.

Thats really true

Random note: in the Bible that you can say there is no God, and the ask him to forgive you and he will, you can say that there is no Jesus, and then ask him to 4give you and he will..... but if you say there is not a holy spirit he will not forgive you. changing you religion and saying that there is no god, jesus or holy spirit is really out of the question for a christan.

You don't have to if you're an agnostic, it can mean a lot of things... you can read what it means for me on the last few paragraphs on my profile I highly suggest you do, a smart person like you could get something out of it

Don't worry about it I apologize too, I hope we can be friends lol And also.... "God" is something you can live without... he's not someone you talk to or actually get advice/help from, you do that yourself whether you know it or not. Just give it a chance? Trust me, I was a catholic for 14 years and I was taught that "God" will forgive you if you are truly sorry... but I have a feeling you won't be lol

I will no longer be posting here. If God exists, so be it. If he does not, then so be it. This is my last post here.

It's not really a question of want. It's a matter of what's real or not. Basically for an atheist until some proof that definitively proves gods existence there's no more reason to believe in him then there is in Zeus or Odin.

Not sure if I'm quoting this correctly but "Incredible claims require incredible evidence" I can't think of anything more incredible then god can you?

If I'm not to mistaken even your god had no issue with testing peoples faiths from time to time.

How so? If you are a true believer there should be absolutely no reason for you to waiver in your belief. Shylagirl has been debating with us on this thread for awhile now (meaning she's listening and giving us a chance to give our points of view), she has not surrendered her beliefs one iota.
