do you want an 11-year-old playing Leisure Suit Larry or FEAR
I was playing FEAR at 11. I was playing Unreal Tournament at 3, Grand Theft Auto at 9, most the CoD games at 10, etc. It's purely the parents decision, regardless of whether their child gets a game or not. You do not need special age ratings.
in my opinion, who cares. i'm 13 and most of the games i play are M. my 8-year-old cousin plays grand theft auto. i've been playing halo since it came out. and it's M.
hey i was younger than 11 and i remember seeing a flower with tits and a huge poop monster that you had to throw toilet paper at (conker's bad fur day for the N64). so i would say at least 8 years old
the actual suggested thing is 18 but ive played M games since I was like 7. A guy getting his face ripped off by an alien/zombie/alien zombie doesn't bother me much
Meh. I think that if the kid knows right from wrong, reality from fantasy, and doesnt do things that they see on TV or in video game go ahead and play. I started playing violent games when i was like 13. I understood. I talked with my folks about it and they said i could. I let my son play Left 4 Dead 2 and that game is just plane right BRUTAL. But he doesnt go to school trying to rip off another kids head. Seriously its not that big of a deal
Frankly, I think Last Stand 2 is gorier than any M game I have (all three or so of them, Half-life and all of the following episodes as well as Team Fortress 2).
If I can play that for free without verifying my age and am not bothered by it, then, well, yeah. It should be about maturity, not age.
Well I could play my first at 11.Its was MK armagaton and aftar I won it my mom then said"You can't have another untill your 13"but some are'nt relly that bad.
My mom freaks out over M-rated games with my 11 year old brother, but she lets me play all M games. I actually have a video game club at my school where it is a common practice to play M games (in hte school)
I say its all a matter of how a kid acts, my brother is extremely immature, but a lot of kids know that you dont go around shooting people cuz they look like zombies.
xcept for GTA. that is the only outlier, really shouldn't be played by 7 year olds.
I agree with the current policy that to purchase an M rated game, one must be 17. The rating system is a bit strict though. I believe that the first Halo could have easily been rated T, and maybe even all the others. When parents see the rating M, they think that it's something horrible that is for adults only. When really, it's just intense for some of teens who may not have been exposed to violence, strong language, etc in their real lives.
I agree with Green. It depends on the person that is playing. And what there parents think they can handle. There really is no golden number were people are magically ready to play those games. That is why it is so high to help ensure people that by them are ready and won't have mental break downs were all they can do is talk about playdo.
