I think global warming is a myth if anyone wants to prove me wrong try.

Not all of it is natural - the hole in the ozone layer above one of the poles is not natural, it's man-made - however, most of the heat is due to the sun's energy cycles. The polar ice caps on Mars are also melting, so there has to be a variable that environmentalists are failing to mention - the sun.

That would require the world average temperature of 56 degrees Fahrenheit to jump to over 120 degrees Fahrenheit in less than three years. Sorry, but it's not going to happen.

ya the 2012 thing is not going to happen but the thing is natural we dont have humans on mars so it has nothing to do with us.

Here are some video on the subject. If you believe global warning is taking place or not I recommend watching them anyway, they are quite educational on the subject.

Freak wished for me to pick our debate up here, so I'll oblige.

So, please tell me you don't agree with the fact that since we have a couple billion cars that release large amounts of CO2, that it's NOT one of the main causes of temperature increases? Please say no.

Sadly, there are not a few billion cars around. I put my estimate closer to 750 million.

Now, in comparison per minute of CO2 release with all the worlds volcanoes, I put them at about equal. There are many volcanoes in the world.

And you never disproved my up and down cycle :P

Just valcanoes? There are plenty other things. I mean, like cows. They release billions of pounds of Meathane into the are a week, I think. And Methane is a big contributor to Global Warming.

So, what are we debating about again?

Well, that was just my little estimation..since there are around 6 billion people.... lol

The Earth naturally goes through heat and cold spells, which last about 50-75 years, then decline only to rise back up 100 years later. It continually goes up and down, with a slight angle up all the way 'til it hits critical mass, and turns off our climate rotation. Result = Ice Age.

Well, almost all of those hot/cold cycles were before the dawn of coal-induced machinery. This little-known fact is true, since in that graph, it kept switching from hotter to colder temps. If the switch is in a 50-75 year period, then we've only gone through them twice, roughly. However, more, more, and even more people are in the world, with even more cars produced. 750 million cars, believe it or not, does play a big part in why the world is getting hotter. The CO2 traps the sun's rays in, and more keeps coming in.

Samdawghomie, we picked up the conversation from This thread here, because this one was already made. So we are just letting it die.

The total period of the cycle is about 300 years I'd guess. The cars may play a decent part in the climate change, but not enough to make a real impact. In fact, only 20% would be from cars and machinery. You underestimate life on Earth and all of Earths' power.

Here's a graph of the past 400k years, including CO2. As the graph says, the levels rise and drop as the years pass by.

Another one that would help would be an estimated future CO2/temp level for say, 2100 or so.

The thing that is bugging me is that the CO2 and temp rises and drops in unison as the years go by, so by that, I just poked a huge hole in a random person's logic. Where's that thread....

20% is 1/5 though. And the population is just going to get bigger and bigger...

If I might intervene...

Global Warming isn't a myth. It's not entirely fact, either. My understanding is that it is, in fact, Earth's own warming cycle that is causing this to all happen. The Ice Age was the ended by another cycle, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

But I won't deny that man has contributed to it. As Alt pointed, the giant hole in the Ozone isn't natural. Corroded by methane, Co2, sulfur gas from volcanoes, etc...

But yeah, car emissions play a much smaller part than they have been made out to. The media blows everything out of proportion.

Sorry if I've said anything blatantly wrong or useless. =(
