Since you all want to talk about/shoot down communism, try and keep it all in one thread.
This one.
Having umpteen threads about the same basic idea is pointless/getting fairly annoying.
Thus, everyone shall be equal.
Have fun.
I honestly thought Socialism and Communism were different ideologies.
Like comparing Catholics to Protestants. Although I do agree with making it a compact thread I would put it down as the Communism/Socialist thread. They are similar but certainly not the same.
Maybe so, but only if you actually know the difference.
I look around and see no reason to add /Socialism to the thread name.
Communism because of the human nature can be effective only short term.
Also in communism the leaders and the officers have too much power.
In communism there are no real poor and there are less extremely rich persons.
The health system is more fair and almost everybody has the same treatment.
But real communist has never existed so we can only make guesses. When (and if) a real communist society will exist we will have facts and we will be certain that communism works/not works and what are it's flaws.

Communism fails because it ALWAYS leads to dictatorship. Let's face it communism is in theory the perfect thought or theory but it's always been messed up.
Do I hear anyone talking about Fascism? No? Why is that? Oh yes Hitler and Mussolini. Why does nobody see Stalin in the same way? He killed over 20 million people during the Great Famine.
Of course nobody remembers that over the 6 million jews.
I agree it probably does, but remember that we never had real communism so we don't know, we can only make theories.
Stalin killed many persons, but I know many persons who think that he (Stalin) and Mussolini did well killing all those persons. We should remember the victims of every fascist, of every dictatorship, of every monarchy and of every communist. There is no thing such as Hitler or Stalin is better/worst the dead are dead and are all equal.
We should not justify nobody, when you abuse of your powers your a criminal no matter what your political believes are.
@thisisnotanalt, You forget quite a few types of government. For example, monarchy worked in England, France, Spain, etc. for hundreds of years. Oligarchy, aka power to the few, worked in Sparta for just as long. Communism worked in the Incan Empire, again for hundreds of years. So really, that was an ignorant statement.
communist is to idealistic, not what *cough*russia and n.korea*cough* are, marx wanted to creat a utopia, in a perfect world.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist_Manifesto
link to marx's work, he was smart, undoubtabily insane, but smart
I have already posted this, but I will do it again:
Auguste Comte's Law of three stages.
It states that society as a whole, and each particular science, develops through three mentally conceived stages:
1) The Theocratic stage refers to explanation by personified deities. The 3 sub-stages:
A. Animism- Turning everyday objects into items of extreme religious purpose and worship, perhaps with godlike qualities.
B. Polytheism - Explanation of things through the use of many gods.
C. Monotheism - Attributing all to a single, supreme deity.
2) The Metaphysical stage refers to explanation by impersonal abstract explanation. Often those who developed metaphysical systems believed they were engaging in scientific activity, but they were not.
3) The Positivity stage refers to scientific explanation based on observation, experiment, and comparison. Positive explanations rely upon a distinct method, the scientific method, for its justification.
The form of governments are closely related to this, the political ideology depend from the society of a particular geographic region and/or time.
For example there are even nowadays some tribes in deep jungles which have still a form of aristocratic government.
The forms of government in a ancient Greece where:
Monarchy only one person the king had all the power.
Aristocracy a group of persons had the power, only if you were born aristocrat you had the chance being one of the leaders.
Oligarchy the wealthier and stronger persons are the ones who rule. Sparta had this form of government.
Tyranny a person, usually a demagogue manages to become extremely popular so the citizens want him to rule at least at the
beginning. Peisistratos is the best example.
Democracy, the demos, the people (only the free male citizens) have the power, the best example is Athens.
We're not Greek warriors.
he had to be undoubtally insane. but he had nice hair.
this is sparta
Communuism, in its pure state, seems to be a perfect Idealogy. The thing is though, this is my opinion, things are never perfect, and communuism is barely in its pure state. The thing is though, Captilism, like Communuism, is a failed idealogy in practice. Things get too corrupt, and people can be shot out of competition entirely by their goverments, or other groups.
The Soviet Union was a superpower for 69 years, you can't say socialism doesn't work...just an FYI.
Communism is the ideal government, but it's humans that are flawed.
@votesocialist: only because all other nations were mistakenly afraid of it. and it's true, socialism DOESN'T work. the only way the communist party remained in charge was by selling (agricultural) products on the international market and using the profit to oppress the people(s). FYI
