Thought instead of continuing to thread jack the topic on abortion I would move this discussion into it's own thread.
The question is, are Humans animals? Can we even be compared to animals?
If we are not animals then what are we?
An argument was put forth we are socially not animals. On this I have to ask what is it socially that makes us truly that different? We pursue things just for the sheer pleasure of it? we see this behavior in other animals so that can't be it.
Another argument was we are not animals because unlike animals we have souls. If this is the case then what is a soul? What proof is there that such a thing even exists?
Man is the highest form of animal..And about having a soul?...That has to do with religion..The indians were thought to be souless because of thier beliefs..But we, just like your pet dog or cat are animals...Don't believe we are more than that...As for the soul..NO PROOF
Animals don't have souls. And neither do Canadians... so maybe Canadians are animals. The reason they don't have souls is because they sold them to Satan when they asked him to fight God's army of America so that we would not make Canada part of the USA.

There is no true highest form of animal. Other animals are better than humans at other things such as strength or speed while we humans have superior intellect which, while being a great advantage, is also a greater responsibility. We humans have caused so many problems on Earth the hole in the ozone layer, global warming, deforestation, the extinction of species, I could go on and on. When a families pet kills their 3 year old daughter they would kill it right? Well if other animals could think like us and know what we are doing to their home then imagine what they would do to us. Man is not superior. He has great power but we have the choice to use that power in the right or wrong way. To help or hinder the growth of Earth. If all of the polar ice caps melt the sea would rise by a staggering almost 200 feet and again it is a problem caused by man. We are not higher or lower. We would consider an animal that runs around the neighborhood and kills children evil correct? Well we are slaughtering animals by the thousands every day even when it is not our prime objective.

Couldn't it be argued that our superior intellect allows us to control other animals; thus making us superior?
We are animals in the long run but we just have more learned traits then inherited traits therefore our instincts. Are based off what we have learned unlike other animals that are a good amount of inherited traits making them more insinct when it comes to reacting unlike us where we react by what we have been tought to do when we were younger
