It was all of the news for like 4 hours. The whole country was in panic about this afternoon. Everyone thought that Falcon Heenie was trapped inside a silver dome shaped craft for more than 2 hours reaching heights around 10,000 feet in the air. It seems the kid was just hiding in the attic because he was afraid of being confronted with his father.

Discuss.

Haha, I've gotta agree. According to msnbc.com the father admitted it was a publicity stunt, and charges are being pressed against them on account of "contributing to the delinquency of a minor", conspiracy, and false reporting to the authorities; among others. Glad to see they're not getting away with it, but really, the media needs to move on. This story should have never gotten front page of any newspaper or website.

There facing charges for:

The sheriff says no charges have been filed yet, and the parents aren't under arrest. He says he expects to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant.

Some of the most serious charges each carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

They did lead America on a wild goose chase, that probably cost the county they live in a good sum of money. Also, the whole thing was a conspiracy to get publicity, so they need to be punished for that. You can't pretend a child is endangered just so you have a better chance of going on TV.
