I went to a sunday service at a church (i don't go very much) and for the hour the pastor talk about some finial war and the anti-christ coming in the next 10-20 years. He said nothing about why it would happen or gave any evidence. It felt like he was just saying turn or burn for the whole hour.
A: It could have been created as a hoax sometimes within the last century.
Then why have tablets, when translated, tell the same story, some dating several thousand years ago? And if it was written in the last century, give or take one, then why did they have church services in the 1300's? ...
Matthew 24:36
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angles in heaven, nor the son, but only the father.
I guess you could say that it is 'safe' to say that the end or 'final war' (as you put it) could be coming in the near future. But as the verse above said, only God knows. So just because a pastor says its soon, doesnt nessisarly mean soon. And if your wondering about the end of times, anti-christ, and such, then I suggest reading the book of Revealation, The last book of the bible.
Most pastors dont go that far into depth of the detail of the book because:
A) Its ussualy assumed that Christian adults will know the basis of it
B) Young children in the congregation might be frightened.
I mean, if your 6, and you find about all the horrors that will take place. Assuming everyone was some-what I was like when six.
!The teachers answered yes, the majority of the priests answered like Pythia maybe, it depends... Your opinion?!
My religion says that you will be judged upon what you know. Example if you know that killing is wrong, you will be punished accordingly. Nearly all of my religious leaders said the same exact thing.
The Bible has been edited and written by humans
True, the catholic church(not to be mean) Edited the bible to contain only the books that they wanted in it.
More on the editing part, when they originaly translated the bible, the jewish word that they translated to mean day, (in the genesis and on the seventh "day" god rested) Could have meant any amount of time and not just "day"
Sargentfrost i would like you to find the part where it says
The bible says the answer is no, they burn in hell for not believing in God. Even if they are good people.
Because i have never seen this, as far as i knew it was generally a viewpoint from the Catholic Church(no offense its just the truth)

Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion and it is the second oldest major religion. Hinduism is the first oldest. This means that they have been reading the old testament for atleast roughly 2500 BC. As for the new testament the books In it were written in the same days as Jesus the Christs life, and in the 1000 years afterward.
Knowledge in an ancient holy text that the people of the time couldn't possibly have put there without divine help. For instance if we found a scroll of scriptures with E=MC2 in a language that exists now that didn't exist back then. This would be good proof. Also while not on it's own would this convince me but if this scripture had no errors or internal contradictions that would go a long way with me
That wouldn't prove the existence of a God, it would just mean that they were freaking smart. Saying that they knew this knowledge because they were helped by God, would be just as equal as a conclusion, to say that advanced species(aliens) from another planet came to Earth and helped that civilization.
Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Good people don't exist. I don't have the time to find a better quote right now. Maybe later.
Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
That doesnt say that they are condemned to burn in hellfire even if they are good... it is merely telling people to follow the commandments
and Tomertheking, sorry, that i didnt state it right. it was supposed to say Since 2500 BC. That make you happy?

Luke 23:50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
Remember there are no contradictions in the Bible...
@Mage: The quoted passage is what Jesus said specifically. In reference to Jesus, he knows God is good in comparison to himself because he IS God, while everyone else is bad in comparison to himself. The other one was written by the writers of Luke's Gospel. Their opinion of Joseph is that he is a good man, and in comparison to themselves, they were probably right.

The point was there is no one good more as an absolute rather then a relative term. Now I could be wrong about that assumption. Any way working within the context of the Bible, even saying God is good and all humans are bad in comparison still seems rather unlikely given all the horrible act God has done directly and has condoned himself. Even factoring in how he mellowed in the New Testament there still are his past deeds to answer for.
