Here is an interesting question, what if America was invaded by land, by another huge army. What I am saying is if both the east and west coast were invaded by millions of foot soldiers that would move across the entire country. Think of this if like a D-Day happened in America. So where would you go? What would you do? Would you fight or hide? Hey you never know if this could happen but America would probably have a nuke war before this happens.
although somewhat unlikely, an invasion of the U.S would depend on these things:
control of mountain passes: in event that the west coast or east coast was taken, the rockies/ appalachians make a formidable barrier to any opponent. especially if the hgihways crossing them were demoed/sabotaged, or blocked for any reason, these mountain passes would be vital to any attacker. it would be a huge logistical stress to go around them.
militia groups/ other independent entities: if the people were able to organizedly band together, similar to the French Resistance of WW2, they could quite easily disrupt troop and supply movements.
train/highway control: with the U.S having so many highways roads, and train tracks, control of them would be a large deciding factor.
surprise: if it was a large, prepared conventional attack, the U.S military would probably have enough time to mobuilize and evacuate the people, organize militias, and prepare. if tthis attack could be somehow hided, or if it wasnt a conventional attack, the attacker would have a large advantage.
army, air, and navy bases: if these could be effectively taken over or neutralized early on in one region, the attacker has a MASSIVE advantage on that region.they would be the center of all troop and supply traffic from other regions of the U.S, and destroying them largely prevents troop buildup.
E.M.P bombs, missiles, etc.: enough said. the use of these would be devastating.
Nuclear warfare: not much explaining needed.
area invaded: for many reasons, the area of first attack would be very important. the west, east, and parts of the central states are densely populated, creating many logistical, movement, and other problems. it would make a huge civilian militia if they were invaded first, along with others streaming in from other areas. the U.S- Canada border is in my eyes the best place to attack from.
I remember in history class, bim not quite sure if I remember correctly though. That if somebody were to attack the US the would have to Gain control of every single Capitol, all of the ones in every state. I think that's what he said, it was right after lunch so I was kinda tired.
But what motive does anybody have to attack America? Well probably some I guess.
Hmm, I myself would fight. Probably organize some small forces actually, hiding of course so we aren't sitting ducks. And motive to attack America? Hahahahaha, LOTS of them. Afghanistan, Iraq, We did start that war.. Plus the terrorists want to demolish freedom correct? good place to cripple all free will..
You guys think that America is that defensive of an invasion??? If another, Powerful country were to invade the United States, they would use an EMP, which is an Electronic Magnetic Pulse, and it would shut down all power to the United States, it would drain power out of EVERYTHING. It would be extremely easy to march troops into America while it is still in Confusion Mode. And the United States probably would not be able to recover if we won the invasion because of our Just-In-Time Economy. A regular supermarket usually has only 3 days of supplies in the shelves. So if something disrupts that....its over. The United States is not the country it used to be. Its alot weaker and more vulnerable to attacks.....we are on the brink of collapse and thats the truth.
Dude, stop using Homefront. That game about the US being hit with an EMP and being invaded. Oh, or MW2. That game where the US is invaded, and and EMP goes off. Oh wait Bad Company 2, That game where you have to stop an EMP from reaching the US. Come on, it wont be by an EMP. That makes a good video game plot, but it wont happen in real life. Were not that dumb....or ARE WE? *EPIC MUSIC*
Well even if it is based in Homefront, it is true. Our economy is major crap right now. Just saying, if i was the ruler of lets say the most common, Russia. I would launch the EMP to shut down the Communication systems, then i would send troops through Alaska, the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and through Maine, so i would have them trapped so to speak. Hey its a good strategy. Even if your Judgement is based on Video Games.
Actually it is feasible for an EMP to take out all of new england or even most of the eastern seaboard, if it is high-altitude blast it would knock-out everything above the horizons.
Anyone see the movie 'Red Dawn'? It has the same basic storyline as this thread. Russian para-troopers invade mid-western America, gos on from there.
this is an advantage to living in colorado... it would be weeks before those foot soulders reach me.... time to move to canada...
Yes! Welcome to Soviet Canuckistan! Our team of robot unicorn surgeons will heal you and massage you for free with their rainbow vision and our beavers will make you a beautiful wood house in Vancouver for about 2 millions dollars! Then you can go to the mall and buy some leftover Olympic mascots because they are cheaper than buying a bed, just buy about 100 of them for 50 bucks! MMmmm.. do you smell that? That good Canadian fresh air laced with maple syrup. Thanks to our "Moose trees" in the ever ever forest, that we are destroying it very second, so inhale deeply!
As I live in the UK I would laugh my head off and then continue life as normal.
I'll would just drink my concentrated maple syrup while preparing root-beer, bacon, chocolate chip waffles. Oh and my bagged milk will make a nice cushion.
If America was invaded, you would be glad they haven't circumvented the 2nd Amendment yet. The tenacity and sheer force of these pocketed groups of resistance would lay a hindrance to any major invasion. We have weapons and we know how to use em, I for one would dare someone to try to invade, being such a large country it would exhaust its resources on the initial invasion and any prolonged campaign would quickly put the country far in debt.
