The most important tips to survive is getting a fast hitting leech gun, obtaining all the medals and some sort of luck.

For my personal favor, a 3+ slots bowgun with 2 or 3 speed boost (fire rate lv3 or autofire lv3) and a leech lv3. Rapid bowgun would be event better.

In my hardcore games, there is one still playing at 400+ days. I cannot say I could make every harcore game to day 80, but it's very likely that I could survive most game till day 67 or so.

Hiring a henchman could be good to survive longer, but that's not very suggested. A hechman not only take half of your reward away, but also take a lot of kills (exp & money drop) from your team. So it's basically further weakened your team in a long term way.

For days before 40, almost any 3 companions can help. While after day 40, 2 bigs would be essential. For the remaining slot, try a theif with laser-pistol.

Bowgun + bow master skill is the easiest way for human player, while laser-pistol is so cool for small gunner helpers.

After day 120, theives are the kings. Imagine that they can bring you 10k+ money from enemy kills, while the day reward is just around 5k or so. In day 400, my 2 theives can keep bringing me 60~75k a day!

only buy @shop or find on battlefield. You can spend hundreds of rounds and didn't get 6-slot weapon.

Question: What is "Carried Over" mode, and how do I disable it? I notice that some medals can't be earned while in this mode, and getting medals/achievements is my favorite aspect of video games in general.

I think I enabled "carry over" mode when I died on day 6+/- and continued, though I had no idea at the time what it really meant. (This game really is HARD for me; I know that I should buy a house & get another teammate as soon as possible, but I never get close to having 2000g at any point; after losing so much I have spend anything I have on upgrades to my defense to help beat one more day).

I finally beat day 10 after dying a dozen times along the way, and now I'm in "town" or whatever (the part between days where do all your stuff), and I don't see anywhere that I can change any settings that have to do with this. For that matter I also can't find the part to turn on Game Mods, even though I remember seeing it when I started my first game last night.

As for "What does Carry-over mode do?", does it make it so that any unspent AP you have when you finish one day are added to the ones you get the next? It seemed at first that I never had more than 4AP in any turn even if I didn't spend all mine the turn before, but at one point I did have 5.

....
I think this game needs better in-game instructions.

Carried Over - you will start day again after losing with all gold and items earned during fight.
Mods and this option can't be disabled.
AP you get from
1. 2 medals
2. Active perk

I started as Hunter. In my opinion, bowgun is the best weapon, especially later on. In the beginning it's easier to aim and later on, once you get a bowgun with a lot mod slots, you could manage a perfect day even without the guys you hired. I'm at day 700 (casual) now and have a bowgun with 6 mods (5x fire rate3 and 1x auto-fire3) for 70 arrows per second. Altough I might be quite lucky to get a 6-slot-bowgun in around, I think, round 60,it's easy to get at least 4 slots by opening multiple tabs with the same saved game and making the blacksmith refresh his items all the time until you get one.
I kept the little girl quite long since she has good party skills. Second I got a noble and gave him a gravity gun (now with reloading max on level 1600 he is the one who kills most of the enemies, but until he reloads that fast, you are the main killer). Lastly I got a rogue with a laser pistol to get more money. Each round I get 40.000 gold from enemies. Once you have a gravity gun and an at least acceptable bowgun, upgrade your villa (and buy chicken as often as possible). When your villa is 40, collect money for better weapons.

And somehow I get the feeling that whoever reads this post will think I am some kind of freak or a liar... But you can simply try it like this. I don't know if it will work out for you, but it for sure is the best way for me.
Btw, i didn't ever use carry on and have all medals except for the 80 days hardcore mode medal, after day 40 I somehow got bored by that.

... don't know if or how you can edit posts...
Ragnarok is great for some xp, I survived it first on day 30, I think. Later on they are quite simple, with my fast bowgun I used 4 ragnaroks at once and killed them all without any damage.

I'm on day 152 with a level 155 noble. The museum, chicken, repairmen, and sister upgrades (especially if someone in your party has love 10) are all vital to your success. Also, you need at least one laser gun and one gravity gun in your party. Max out everyone's party skills, and don't stop upgrading every aspect of your castle!
