The city of Ridleybank, Pennslyvaina never slept. Nor did it choose not to. The urban metropolis that was located on the very edge of lake Eerie had over 6 million people that called the city home. Among those residents were people employed by one of the United State's largest coorporation: Dynavax Institue of Technological Research or DITR.

Dynavax had many research fields, one of their most sucsessful was their biological and weapon testing. But they had also influenced many other areas of research such as alternate energy and fuel efficent cars. One of their main headquarters for their biological and human genetic mutation research was in Ridleybank, Pennslyvaina. Dynavax literally founded the city themselves and built the city upon their needs. They gave jobs to nearly 3/5 of the population, whether it was an office job, blue collar worker, scientist or even one of the many private contrators that they employed.

It was 2019 and the United States was finally coming out of a depression that had crippled the country's econmic state. Dynavax was the forerunner of the US's upswing, by opening countless nationwide projects on roads, factories and medical research. During this time they also poured money into the biological research headquarters of Ridleybank, Pennslyvaina.

Ridleybank was built by Dynavax both from the ground up and literally the ground down. They built massive tunnel complexes that streched nearly 500 feet below ground and was as wide as the city itself. Tunnel systems riddled the earth beneath Ridleybank, creating a insitution that couldn't be monitored. They opened up numerous projects within this complex, one of which was the 'Pro Bono' project. 'Pro Bono', which was Latin for "for the public good", was to create biological super soldiers by editing human genetics to make soldiers more stronger, perceptionally aware, combat intellegent, and having extreme endurance. As the 'Pro Bono' project continued, those that were in the project started getting Smallpox-like symptoms. Some of which died after several weeks of suffering from what appeared to be Smallpox. Smallpox, which had been considered a 'dead' disease, had thought to have been released into the underground complex. Almost the entire underground area of Dynavax's secret establishment was shut down. After a week of air testing of almost every inch, it was reopened. The scientists and private contractors that were working on the 'Pro Bono' project and had became sick, had died of Smallpox-like problems.

Several weeks after that Dynavax quietly was losing a battle. Underground, somehow, both scientists and private contractors had become enraged. They bit, slashed, and clawed at anyone who wasn't angered. They didn't respond to any forms of communication and when the time came, bullets seemed to not hinder them. Only until they were either torn apart by bullets or shot in the head, did they stop. Slowly, their numbers multiplied. And slowly, Dynavax realized the connection to the 'Pro Bono' inncicent and the enraged, powerful, and quick former employees. People that were bitten or people that were put into contact with these insane people displayed similar smallpox-like symptoms and eventually died. After they made the connection that those that got the disease eventually died and came back to life, it was already to late...

The undead had reached the surface...

Welcome to a zombie RP, but this isn't your average one. This is more in-depth than anyone elseâs out there. I will be using your traits that your character displays. These traits are determined by your skill level in a certain skill. And your skill level is raised by simply surviving and using tools that are given to you.

You will be playing the role of a survivor stuck in Ridleybank, Pennsylvania. It has been 7 weeks since the 'Pro Bono', or PB for short, hit the streets. The state of the city is dire, Dynavax has ordered the government to set up quarantine in a perimeter around the city, and still has private contractors in the city that most of the time shoot on sight at anyone, living or dead. What you do, where you start, and how you survive is simply up to you. I'll provide you with your situation, your options (which can be altered as long as I approve of it) and what you do will determine whether you live...or become a shambling zombie.

Un-life isn't the end of the road however. Later in the game if you die, playing as a zombie will become an option if you fall ill.

Now let's continue on your character:

This is the character sheet, you will need to fill it out according to the information I will give you below. If you fill it out wrong, I'll as you to do it again, it's that simple:

Name:
Age: (Optional)

Now on to Professions:

Everyone in Ridleybank had a profession. Whether you were a small-time scientist for Dynavax, an office worker, a blue collar worker, or even being homeless, you had a profession. This is a list of chooseable professions. Choose wisely, you will gain both necessary skills and items from the profession you pick.

However many lower level private contractors, A.K.A Grunts, were no longer in the loop of Dynavax operations in the Ridleybank area. Because of that, they are low on ammunition. They have basic firearm skills, Dynavax building recognition, and basic endurance.

______

Military Professions

The National Guardsmen: One of the many National Guardsmen stationed either in one of Ridleybankâs two forts or in the surrounding area when the outbreak hit. They were the first to arrive when the reported rioting occurred. Only when the dead starting rising and the city descended into hell did the brave homeland protectors of the United States realize they were in the middle of the shit they signed up for. Although many died in the first few weeks, many still strive to survive. Although Fort Dunwichâs, one of the two National Guard forts in the city, courtyard fell three days before the 7 week mark, many National Guardsmen and civilians are held up in the fortâs armory. The other National Guard fort, Fort Dalton, on the other hand, remains in human control, being the major United States army outpost in the city. Even still, many other soldiers are isolated in the city, with most of the time little aid.

National Guardsman Private: Your basic National Guardsman. Equipped with a H&K G36 assault rifle and their wits, they were once the shining hope of the city. Now, they are scattered and helpless. Most are posted in one of the two forts of the city, while some are stuck navigating the city. They have basic firearm skills, basic rifle skills, basic endurance, but suffer from âF-Unluckyâ when talking about their luck of the Ridleybank campaign.

Skills: Basic Firearm Training, Basic Rifle Training, Basic Endurance, F-Unlucky (Loss of Luck)

Items: G36 Assault Rifle (Fully Loaded: 30), x2 5.56x45mm NATO clips, Basic Combat Armor, Combat Helmet, Military Radio (picks up both regular and military restricted frequencies), x1 Random Grenade (Frag, Flashbang, Or Smoke)

LOCATIONS: You can start in Fort Dunwich or Fort Dalton.
______

National Guardsman Medic: Like the National Guard Private, the everyday medic has had similar problems with Ridleybank. Although they have had more close up experience with the undead, some even attempting to save their falling comrades only to have them die and turn on them. Because of this they also know more about the disease than most. They have basic medical training, as well as basic firearm training. They do not have as much firepower as regular soldiers, only wielding a 9mm pistol if they have to face combat.

When the undead started assaulting the prison, they had to keep the dangerous convicts that were still in the jail in line. They managed to keep this fight for 5 weeks into the infection, only when someone from the outside blew a hole in the wall with a bomb, did prisoners escape and zombies invade the prison. They carry M16A1 rifles, and the skills gained in their 5 week struggle.

Skills: Basic Acrobatics, Basic Free Running, Basic Melee Skills, Basic Endurance

Skills: Medical Training, Basic Disease Knowledge

Items: x10 Medical Kits, A randomly improvised weapon.

Skills

The skill level function works like this:
When you perform an action successfully (or sometimes unsuccessfully) in the field you will gain skill points in the appropriate skill. This is how they level up.
Most Skills:
Not Listed = 0-14 Skill Points
Basic = 15â"44 Skill Points
Regular= 45-99 Skill Points
Advanced = 100-199 Skill Points
Master = 200+ Skill Points

So if you have Basic Pistol Training as a starting skill that means you have 15 skill points already in Pistol Training. In order to level it up to Regular Pistol Training you would need to earn 29 skill points.

Now the 2 generalized Skills: Firearm Training, Melee Skills work basically the same. Anything you do that aids any of the general skill will give you skill points. They also determine if you are successful in that field, but specialized skills determine this more. Because of this it takes about two times as more skill points to level up:
Not Listed= 0-29
Basic= 30-79
Regular= 80-149
Advanced= 149-289
Master= 400+

The most generalized skill: Survival, is ranked up by doing anything that aids you in the effort to stave off the undead and live to see another day. It affects everything you do and because of this, it takes even more points to level up:
Not Listed= 0-49
Basic=50-139
Regular=140-279
Advanced=280-579
Master=1000+

________
Now the concept of skills is dealt with. The following are skills you can purchase. NOTE: You can only get 2 of the following skills. They will give 15 skill points into the skill that you choose and WILL stack with any profession skills you get.
So if you already have basic bladed weapon skill then you will still have basic bladed weapon but with an extra 15 skill points. So Basic Bladed Weapon Skills (30/44) instead of (15/44).

Survival Skills
Firearm Skills
Melee Weapon Skills
Pistol Training
Rifle Training
Shotgun Training
SMG Training
Blunt Weapon Skills
Bladed Weapon Skills
Lock picking Skills
Hotwiring Skills
Free Running
Acrobatics
Endurance
Intelligence
Disease Awareness
Command
Stealth

Although there may be more skills later in the game, this is all you can choose from. You can choose two of the same skill if you like.

______

Purchasable Items

Last but not least are purchasable items. Each person is given $30 (or more if your profession allows) to spend ONLY in the beginning. You can choose not to spend your money and keep it, perhaps giving you a chance to use it in the game, but buying items is probably more useful than worthless paper.

x2 Medical Kits: $15
x1 Pistol Clip (Ammo Type Of Your Choosing): $10
x1 SMG Clip (Same as above): $15
x1 Rifle Clip (â â): $20
x1 Flare Gun (Shot into the sky or at something, can cause fires): $15
x1 Gasoline Can (Either used directly to set something alight, or kept to use for a car, or even to make Molotov cocktails): $15
x1 Frag, Smoke, or Flashbang Grenade: $20

x1 GPS Unit: $20
Combat Armor: $25
Combat Helmet: $10
Binoculars: $5
Surgical Mask (Reduces Dust Irritation): $5
Gas Mask (Eliminates Dust Irritation): $10
x1 Cocaine (Gives Temporary Boost To Stamina, Can Cause Addiction, After Effects May Leave You Vulnerable): $20
x1 Heroin (Gives Temporary Boost To Stamina, Weaker Than Cocaine, Less Chance Of Addiction, After Effects May Leave You Vulnerable): $15
x1 Weed (Gives Boost To Health, After Effects May Leave You Vulnerable): $10
Random Food Item (Depending On Item Gives Boost To Stamina and/or Health): $5
âI <3 Ridleybank T-Shirtâ: Free!

______

Starting Locations

I wonât put you in a random spot of the city, instead giving you the chance to decide where you want to start. Either in the congested downtown area or the less populated suburb area, the choice is up to you. Know that some areas are only chooseable for some professions:

Mall: Average survivor population, high lootable areas, high zombie concentrations.
Strip Mall: Low survivor population, average lootable areas, low zombie population.
Hospital: Low survivor population, average lootable areas, high zombie populations.
The Suburbs: Average survivor population, low lootable areas, average zombie population
Downtown District: Average survivor population, average lootable areas, high zombie population
Police Station: Average survivor population, high lootable areas (usually guarded by police officers), high zombie population

You go through the office you took a nap in and into the warehouse. In the darkness of night you cannot see much but you make out a large storage container in the center of the warehouse, a burnt out car near the storage container, and a garage door that is slightly ajar that leads to the port area. You call out to anyone who wants to get out the mall to follow you (Command). Everyone either doesn't hear you or doesn't listen fearing for lives. The man grabs your arm and motions for you to continue into the mall. Following his lead, you make your way through the littered mall floors. The man quickens his pace and orders you to do the same. Without looking back to the now scattering people behind you, you follow him into a large store, what you realize to be a large supplier of clothes. The stock, almost entirely looted, or what's left of it lies scattered on the ground next to empty clothing racks. You make your way to the back of the store, and the man appears to be slightly gittery and barely visibly shaking. You just leave it to the recent events that are most likely getting worse behind you. He walks to a door in the back of the store and opens it, gesturing for you to go first. Not thinking anything of it, you go right through, bat tightly gripped in your hands.

As soon as the man closed the door behind you and you heard the quiet 'click' of a lock you realized something was wrong, terribly wrong. Instinctively you realize that the man was about to hit you with a weapon you forgot to observe and make a quick lean to the right (Perception). Luckily he didn't foresee you realizing his intentions and instead of hitting you dead on in the back of your head with his nightstick that he wielded, the blow just glanced your left shoulder thanks to your combat armor. Agilely spinning around, you faced him bat raised and ready for a melee.

"I love it when they fight back," the man said as he grinned, and for the first time you noticed his prisoner tattoo on his forearm. Fighting back pure rage you...

A) Attack first, swiping your bat at him

B) Wait for him to attack, attempt to deflect it, and counterattack

C) Go low and swing for his legs

D) Flee down the hallway to see if you can find a better field of combat for your evasive free running skills

____________________________________
Before looting the items on the dead Dynavax merc's you pick up the pistol the private contractor had shot you with, a Tarus PT1911. You managed to pick up some Dynavax combat armor from the man you had shot earlier as well as his FN-Scar that he had been shooting you with, in addition to four extra rifle 5.56x45mm NATO rifle clips which is both compatable to the M16A1 and the FN-Scar you had picked up. Besides the armor and rifle you also picked up his Dynavax radio and a PDA unit bearing the Dynavax logo, knowing you could always look at it later you look to the man who you had killed. The grenade had pretty much made everything he had useless, including his rifle, armor, and other accsessories. Turning back to the private contractor who was still alive, not even attempting to escape simply pouts like a child who had been outflanked and is now paying for it. You put down the medical kit you had picked up and open it. Using what is inside of it you patch up the man to the best of your abilities (Medical). The grenade, doing most of the damage, had pierced his armor and left a nasty wound on the man's stomach. Using bandages as well as a bio-plasma, ironically developed by Dynavax, you messily close up the wound. Then with the remainder of the items in the medical kit you close up his shoulder wound. Before realizing you had barely left enough for yourself, you had already made the private contractor in better shape. With a single bandage and a drop of bio-plasma you barely cover-up your shoulder wound.

Realizing that there are an abundant flow of zombies probably now entering the mall, you help the private contractor up. Looking at your options, you say, "Sorry about killing your co-workers" to the private contractor.

"It's alright, I hated them anyway. Looking at the way you used that rifle I feel a little bit safer knowing your now looking out for me. Name's Richard, no hard feelings right?"

You can only force out a short laugh and then...

A) Go further into the hallway, helping him along

B) Go out into the food court

C) Ask the private contractor if you can get some of his items

You quickly search the now dead prisoner, picking up his hunting knife, a cell phone and a vial of what appears to be...cocaine.

Knowing you could examine the vial more closely later, you turned to the real problem on hand. Wielding your chef knife in one hand and the newly aquired hunting knife in the other, you charge towards the zombies. The first one, a recent turned, was slow and clumsy. You stab quick with your chef knife into the zombie's stomach and gain leverage for a thrust into the undead beast's eyes. Although you aimed for the eyes, you stabbed high, thrusting through the zombie's forehead which killed him much the same (Melee, Bladed). The next however was more of a problem. It was quicker and much more agile than the first. And apparently he also knew some tactics, as he leaped off of a desolate car's hood and towards you hands outstreched (Disease Awareness). Escaping by a quick dodge you outstrech your arms, and knives, upward. Somehow, either through luck or a certain God was looking out for you, you stabbed through the beast's neck, through its jaw and into its skull (Melee, Bladed). As it flew and collapsed mid-air hitting a car behind you. Your previous luck had obviously ran out as the car erupted into a screeching car alarm. Somehow, looking in all directions undead approached, speeds varying. Unable to count the vast horde approaching you, you...

A) Escape into the alley behind you

B) Continue fighting

C) Charge, and try to get into the Dynavax office building, fighting your way there

We'll look to see if there is a hunting store, pharmaceutical store, etc. etc(in other words, something that might have useful items), and go there. If there are zombies in the way, we'll take a different route. I'll help him along.

Deciding that more equipment, especially medical items, are needed, Coleman gets up and shoulders his rifle again.
"Do you know where any useful items might be, in the building?" he asks Richard disdainfully(his anger only slightly abated). Coleman sighs and waits for a response. He's fairly certain that this contractor won't be of much assistance, especially not with his wound. But everyone's worth saving. Jonathan, unsure if he's fit to fight much more, or even if the zombies can be killed at all, decides to evade any zombies they might come across until further information on the epidemic or whatever it is, comes their way. Which could be a while. Coleman jumps slightly when he hears a sound, which could've been a zombie. Steeling himself, he grips the handle of the door tightly in white-knuckled fists, ready to swing it open and go further out, searching for much needed medical supplies.

A) Escape into the alley behind you.

Mike shielded his ears from the screeching car alarm, which in turn drew every zombie in a 2 block radius to the location. He cursed himself for the clumsy act. Mike knew he had only a couple of seconds before the undead would tackle him and make him a fresh meal. Now there weren't many options; either try to kill every single zombie, kill his way toward the Dynavax office building, or flee like a coward into the alley directly behind him.

Fantastic, he thought.

Today Mike wasn't feeling very heroic today, since the shrapnel from the truck was still painfully stinging him, and the horde of undead currently heading toward his very location. So he immediately eliminated the first two options. Though the last option could very easily lead him to a dead end, he might be able to find a fire escape to climb. Then he reconsidered. There is after all a limit to the height of the fire escape ladder from the ground, so people don't break in from there.

So, what would he do? In the blind panic of his thinking, the zombies gained considerable ground on him. He had no choice. He turned around and headed inside the alley.

OOC: It's fine. I can really only update once a day anyways. Darn work...I'll try to get two a day for the next couple. Can't let Drakon sit still too long. God knows what he'll do.
------------

Drakon crouches outside the window, looking in, after his daring (perhaps insane) jump.

"Ha, found you I did and you did not me. I know you but not you me!" he chirps silently to himself.

While looking through the window he notices that everyone appears to be asleep. He also notices the gun leaning against the wall.

"Ahh, my friends sleep! I think we are friends? I've know you all for quite a while now. And a metal dragon? Blech, loud and bright and bothersome. And the dragon keeper! He's sleepy too. Aww, cute. But silly. Never sleep with a dragon around! Or a me. Am I a dragon? No, I'm a Drakon." he babbles silently.

"I should visit them! Yes yes yes...visit friends. Kill visit. Do you kill friends? Well, they are not good friends. They've never bought me anything nice. Bad friends, bad indeed. I'll visit Mr. Dragon Keeper first so he does not wake up the dragon. Nasty things. Quick quiet kill visit. I am the night. Or was it the bat? Bat night? Night bat?"

He ponders that last point quickly before easing open the window to visit his naughty friends.

Ya, well it seems Khronic isn't doing this anymore, but Moat (who wanted to make this into a story) might do it. I don't have any experience in rpg's, so I can't.
