Think about it, what is religion? The belief in something that cannot be proven, that has many, many things that as of yet we have found impossible, and in many people, it is unshakeable. Now I am not saying that all religious people are going to go kill someone or end up in an assylum, but think, in every religion, the basis is something that cannot be know, but is only faith. Faith in something that could turn out to be wrong, faith in something that you have absolutely no way of knowing. Also, think how many of these religions started, some person got a message from a "god" that told them what to do. Don't go crazy on me, I just want people to think about it.

Well, here's the differnce between science and religion, since i've seen a few posts how science could be considered a religion. Science is open to change, new ideas, and complete rethinking, whereas any religion, either it's that way or your a heathen. No matter what you show a religious person, they will never believe that they could be wrong, whereas you could show a scientist, they would argue sure, but eventually, you could prove them wrong and they would ACCEPT that. That's the major difference.

well religion could be fake and it could be real. but it started the begining of time by people without science, they might be wrong, but they might be right.

religion is not insane but it helps a lot of people get through the day with at least some form of a stable mind especially during disasters or times of stress.

But how do you think someone deeply religious would feel if say, they found out that all they believed in was a lie?

They would cover there ears, go LaLaLa real loud, and pretend it wasn't true.

I really like what MageGreyWolf said. Although you could say that believing in something like a religion is only human.

But you have to ask yourself, how many wars have been started because of religion, how many people have been enslaved in the name of a god, and how many proud countries have been annihilated by people with a belief for something they can't prove? If believing in a religion is only human, I'm not sure I want to be a human anymore...

Ask yourself...

If anyone can find one good thing about religion (besides being with other people), tell me. I would be surprised.

Same with atheists. If you found out there was a God you would just deny it.

Stronger morals and inspiration to make new inventions. Yeah I know, religion has caused many deaths. But without religion people would have no moral code, and they would kill even more people! Although it's hard to see at first, religion has saved more lives than it has killed. Not to mention saving souls.

I'm not sure that religion is required in order to establish a moral code. I am sure we could do that on our own. And how has religion saved more lives than it has decimated? I want some proof and examples.

Is religion insanity?

Most of it, hell yeah.

While I am not...captivated by it, you have to remember some people have not committed suicide, have turned there lives around, ETC., because the idea of god, heaven, and other ideas religions brings forth has brought them some form of hope..or whatever.

So, as long as it makes them happy, let them believe what they want to believe
