Want to know why I am Atheist? It's because of how the story of Jesus came to be. His story was not written down for at least 40 years; think of all the misconceptions that could have happened between that time. I mean, it is much like gossip. It works for the first few people, but then the story starts to mutate uncontrollably.
Who isn't to say that at first, Jesus was just a psychotic whom talked to his imaginary master, named god? He could have just been walking down the road talking to "god" about the basis of his life, and what he shall not do. Later, he commits euthanasia because god told him to. See how that could mutate into the modern story that it is?

Correction: An insane man does not, by any stretch of the imagination, create a church that can withstand three centuries of persecution under the greatest empire of its time, and still continue to spread to the ends of this empire and beyond.
It's really not that hard to imagine someone insane or not to start a sustainable religion. Particularly one willing to absorb the traits of other religions around them in order to bring huge numbers into there fold.
If it is this easy for a religious movement to take root, why didn't Mithraism take over the Roman empire? What happened to the worship of Dionysus, or Isis, or Osiris, or Adonis, all of whom had their followers in the Roman Empire and had more eminence than a crazy Jew?
Yes it is easy for a religious movement to take hold, a fine example of this is the cargo cults. As for why not others. I really can't say for sure but I would guess it might have had something to do with Christianities ability to absorb the religions around it, as stated above.
You want to know why I am an atheist? I find the idea of god twisted. I'll explain: isn't he a being of mercy and goodness? Then why for an amount of time of ludicrous proportion, like human life we have to behave according to rules imposed by someone else? To gain an eternity of bliss? And what if I am evil for my 75 or so years? I get an eternity of punishment? What kindness and benevolence!

We would be just fighting over somthing else thats stupid like what is a better name, United Atheist leauge or the Allied Atheist Allience(it has three As!).
We come up with excuses to kill people all by ourselves, without religion. Racism, nationalism, militarism, ambition, and dissagreement will still exist regardless of whether or not religion does.

Killing is de facto the tool used most by nature. The strong killed the weak for millenia, even before a man thought that could be life in stones, when he firstly started a fire. Religion is nothing more than something to justify it, because "killing is bad", and no sane man want to be bad.

If homosexuals aren't any of those... how come I see those people walking on the streets telling me that I'll get AIDS if I'm a homosexual? And usually they wear shirts like "i-pray" and its sad to see children no older than 14 parade around telling the world that they hate a certain kind of people because they are different than them.
God doesn't come down to show that he exists because it's all about faith. Sometimes we have to believe in things that we just have faith in.
if god could just come down and show him self to everyone that would have stoped alot of angry disputes witch could have caused death.. so why dosn't he just COME DOWN!
