Want to know why I am Atheist? It's because of how the story of Jesus came to be. His story was not written down for at least 40 years; think of all the misconceptions that could have happened between that time. I mean, it is much like gossip. It works for the first few people, but then the story starts to mutate uncontrollably.
Who isn't to say that at first, Jesus was just a psychotic whom talked to his imaginary master, named god? He could have just been walking down the road talking to "god" about the basis of his life, and what he shall not do. Later, he commits euthanasia because god told him to. See how that could mutate into the modern story that it is?

Isn't that more of a reason for you not being a christian? Personally I do not believe in a god, fate or anything supernatural. But it's not because of the various holy books or whatever. It is just because it all seems like nonsense to me. I always liked the way that Karl Marx said it, religion is like opium for the masses (or something allong those lines). It has been made up by rich people, to keep the poor working for them. Science, is what I believe in. Facts.
Judaism is a cultural and racial sect as well, have you wondered why so many look alike?
Being Muslim is out of the option, too, since they believe in Jesus. Being any orthodox of Christianity wouldn't work. Believing in Animistic tales [which are just as far flung] wouldn't go either. Believing in Bhuddism would go for you, if you can bear to think that a man could starve himself 30 days. Your other options could be all those Chinese theories like confucianism or shinto. Otherwise, there's always the infamous Agnostic! "idkbutthere'sadudeupthereandstuff"

I would like to point out Bhuddism is not the worship of a god per se but the acts of self betterment in the hopes of achieving the state of Nirvana, though most average Bhuddists are happy enough to strive for self betterment. The way you put it Armed Blade is misleading.
I don't think it is misleading at all. Buddhism is a religion for a reason, not a philosophy like confucianism. It deals with going into the state of Nirvana, which deals with not an after life but some what of a closer connection to breaking the painful things that bind this earth. The reason I said that is because Buddhism needs spiritual dedication, it requires the belief that yes -- If you give up your wants and feelings then you will indeed be broken from the bond of reincarnation. Worship of a god I did not say. The way is post is made makes him look just a tad bit narrow minded, and therefore if the only thing that dissuades him from believing in a religion is fancy stories -- then I will show him fancy stories of other religions. For example, Buddhism.
I am sorry but if i am reading this right your an atheist because your afraid that there might be a misprint in the story of Jesus. That dosn't really look like a real reason
And you are religious whom worships something that may entirely not even have existed?
Not that I'm Christian. But you could look at it like this... 1. Misprint = "Jesus = From Virgin mother, son of God" 2. Real = "Jesus is a miscarried baby that lived due to organic miraculous booming and stuff, still son of God"
The F? The real point isn't lost, believing in your religion has more to do than just focusing on one story. One of the things I find a problem with Christianity, its centered on Jesus rather than religion. [Imo]
The worship of a god felt implied. My apologies Armed Blade
No problem, I was just trying to point out how relatively narrow his spiritual space is becoming if he wishes to refute all possibilities of religion on 'omg that could never have happened'
Actually Buddhism is kind of both a religion and philosophy
Agreeably, but due to its divine status of rebirth and finally breaking away from a cycle of pain and torture to achieve 'oneness' has classified it as a religion. A few of its denominations worship Buddha, as well. I like to think of philosophy more as those that strictly stick on a path of how a society and political organization should work without any divine interference in the texts of that philosophy. But thats just me.

Sorry, not all that down with Christianity. The Trinity confuses the living crap out of me and I've never been able to understand it. The best way I've come to realization is either A - still the same thing or B - a fraction, God being 3/3, and 2/3 for a while when Jesus was on earth. :S
As for your post referring to God... Well, the story about god may not be unbelievable to OP, and maybe it could. Scrutiny like believing that God can't be leads to Atheism. If he's denouncing Christianity [or any religion] for a story, of, perhaps Jesus -- then there's the issue.
Well, considering I had to endure the whole Catholic crap for my entire elementary school career I will explain the Trinity (which makes no sense) SO Holy Spirity, God and Jesus all make up God. And the thing with jesus being on earth apparently he was still connected to God. Does it make sense? No. Is it BS? O yeah

That can't make sense. God's omnipresence is there already, and if Jesus is connected to God and his goal was to make everyone Christian and 'show them the light' then why the hell didn't he just flick his finger? It doesn't make sense to me....well, whatever. I'm proud to be Muslim!
