Does anyone else here actually enjoy math? Most people I know find it boring and pointless. I don't mean you have to get super excited at the prospect of doing 100 homework problems, I'm talking about finding the various mathematical concepts interesting. Or getting a nice sense of accomplishment when you figure out tricky problem. For me, math is the only subject that I try in, even when I don't really need to. This thread is about math in general, becuae I realize that most people on here aren't going to have the same backround. BTW, I am in AP Calc AB (that's the first year of advanced calculus for those who use a different system).
I tend to like math quite a bit... especially since I am a math major in college! Though, I honestly am not a brainy math person; I love thinking analytically and the feeling of getting a problem correct. I also like the fact that there is a correct answer! In many classes, it is not always so "black and what" if you are correct.
To those of you in high school or earlier, the word "Calculus" seems quite distant and foreign and scary. But, it's actually pretty cool and useful. And if you think calculus seems hard...try taking Advanced Calculus!!! It is crazy as you are literally proving calculus!
Though... I much prefer geometry and statistical analysis! I think there is wayyyy too much emphasis on calculus in school ( seriously... calc 1, calc 2, calc 3, and advanced calc). Stats is much more fun in my opinion!
Nice to see a math thread on here. It would be interesting to see what mathematical class you guys prefer (algebra, trigonometry, algerbra 2, calculus, geometry, statistics...)
