I posted this on John's page but in case it didn't get through here it is:
Why are games only 20 AP? They should be worth more; I have designed games and they take time and effort to make. Playing a game, rating it, and then posting a meaningful comment 5 times is far easier then making a game. I think that once posting a game you should get 30 AP. Then, a month after posting the game the 30 Armor Points should be replaced by the game's rating x 4. That should be the real amount of AP you get because otherwise you could post a ton of bad games and still get points. This way if you make a good game you get rewarded appropriately.
I wonder if I should make a suggestion about mods getting more ap for doing our jobs. Seems like a bit of the same problem. We do job, hard work, so we should gain more points. Yet non of us actually care, which probably is why it has never been suggested. More importantly, this issue is often taken up by people who only dream of making games, because they then could gain more points, while most, if not all, game makers seem to care less of such things as points on a website. /It is midnight, I don't think much any more.
By the way john would only get 2000 AP's if all his games were 10/10 which would never be the case. On average his games are about 7/10 which would make him have 1400, not 2000...
Most people who submit games only do that. It would be unfair to people like me who rate the games and make comments on them. Nobody would like a game maker to be #1.
I don't care more or less. I think if they put lots of work into a game then they deserve 50 AP
In addition for the "AP isn't important thing", remember that you only get ranks and armatars for AP. As a game developer, well, as mentioned they don't care about this.

Maybe provide a way for the developer/creator of a game, to receive an acknowledgement for his work and provide status for him with a ranking system? :S

This site is unique because developers don't get special treatment in the point system like they do on other sites. It should stay the way it is, because otherwise people will get envious and just quit.
Maybe they should make special ranks and armatars for designers
That would just encourage plaigiarism among picture-greedy users.
First off, if users really DO try to plagiarize games, we will know about it. It's really not that hard to find the same game on another website and/or contact the developer. Those who do will be perma-banned, no questions answered. Second of all, game developers don't need fancy ranks or armatars; they already have certain moderator abilities that go with being a developer.

That isn't such a bad idea at all!!! Then we would immediately know if it's a developer or a 'regular' user of AG when looking at his armatar... nice one YodaDude! =) [/quote]This site is unique because developers don't get special treatment in the point system like they do on other sites. I don't know how it is on other gaming websites, but why not see the positive side of this? When other people get envious, they might be nudged into making a game themselves... and that's always good?!

And how would that become an issue? Don't see the problem at hand here... :S

They do?! Ehm... could you enlighten me on that Freakenstein? Kinda left wondering what they are here... :/

I doubt anyone after an armatar would want to spend over a thousand dollars just to buy the tools to make a game.

I don't think we'd need special ranks and armatars. Only a label below the armatar is necessary, in my opinion.

I understand that point, since there are people watching, if in any case plagiarism occurs. Though a few foolhardy people will attempt to submit games here which they didn't make.

A reputation system fits the bill here, but it has already been suggested and it looks like we won't be seeing anything like it for a long time.
From looking at some developers user pages its pretty clear that many don't care about armor points. Many haven't any points from comments or ratings and some don't even change there armatar from the default.
However for the developers that do contribute to armor besides there games should get either more points for there games or a label.

A reputation system as in 'a ranking' or as in 'a rating based on all the games submitted and their ratings'? The latter would be a nice way to see how a creator's success rate is, simply based on the games he/she made and how the AG users like/dislike them! Sound solid enough to me! =)
The typical rep system of a forum is the one where you can specifically "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" a user. I'd really like one here, but the people who maintain this website itself, are likely to be busy.
