Would more of them be better for the site? What do the people of AG, along with the current mods think about it? Would it be better to have more or stay with what we have already? Of course I mean more active ones to go along with the current ones.

It's easier to teleconference, but apparently someone just happened to have some embarrassing stuff going on in the background and ruin it for all of us who don't like to travel. Also, driving is more convenient, especially if you can drive across an ocean.

I think a new mod every 6 months is good. I mean, if one mod goes inactive every year (And even that doesn't happen) then the AG mod team is slowly getting bigger, noticed? And we three new mods from 2009, and only 2 or three mods left.
Which is virtually everyone who doesn't realize that's it more difficult than it sounds.
And the only people who truly realize are mods themselves (Irony...).
The whining about 'Iwannabeamodmakemeone' is something I guess floods their email or profile comments regularly... for that I feel a little sorry for the mods out there... becoming a mod must be like sticking your head into a wasps nest and hope for the best to get out without being harmed or scarred... :S
I agree on the 'more mods needed issue' though, it would make their life a little more relax and they could devide the tasks at hand... however it's up to AG to choose if they want more mods or not and what if... there are no good candidates in the 'users pool' right now? Ever thought of that? They won't choose one if there's not a good candidate available right now!
Enough on the mods and the choosing of them, basic outlining here (as stated in the OP) is that I personally think that more of them would be better, but that's my opinion... the AG HQ's opinion is what counts here! =)

We always want new mods, but that would make them sort of... Not so all powerful beings anymore. More like rapid-spreading good people (Aargh! Good people, run away..... Lol).

And those who keep saying that being a mod would be too harsh and that they would never want to do it, yet when they get picked, they go right for it. Not one guy ever turned down being a mod. Not even Cen. Oh yeah, I could imagine it being pretty challenging. But would it really be as excruciatingly-difficult as people claim it to be? Probably not. Yes, you're expected to be on when you are needed and when you are not needed, but it's not like AG is forcing you to do something that will tire you out mentally and physically.
I think enough to have a high chance of 1-2 mods being on the majority of every day would be high enough. And while you may think this is madness, it's really not. We just need at least 1 guy around on the forums looking for bad things and people to take out. That guy can be around for a couple hours at a time. This can overlap, having 2 maybe 3 mods at once, so long as there is one mod around the majority of the day 24/7. It can happen.

More mods = more merits which means giving people what the deserve if they write good reviews. That is fine with me so more mods would be good.
Why would we give out more merits? It's a tedious job, and the forums are much more fun. Even with more mods, there would most likely not be rewarded more.

I agree! And merit writing requires you to be pretty good at game reviewing (And even playing games). Besides, there are only so many merit worthy comments, and if all of them are found, then some of the mods would become useless, sitting around in a conference room debating 'What to do in free time on AG'.
