I get mad when i see Spanish subtitles on boxes or a Spanish news channel, i wonder how far is to far. I do not hate immigrants but i demand them to learn English if they come here. here are my reasons. #1. If Spanish is on a cereal box why isn't everyone language known to man, not every one speaks English or Spanish in America. #2. A country needs a dominant language to be successful and and to unite everyone in a way. #3. Language should be like currency, you should have one main one, not a bunch.
i do not think people should only know English, i encourage learning other languages, but putting multiple languages on all items can lead to problems, and possible decrease communication in the USA.
I think everyone, it doesn't matter where you go to, should learn the language from the city where it imagrates to. Also for example muslims who go to holland should learn dutch.. It feels quit unpleasant when you hear them talking in a language you don't know and looking at you, it could be they're not talking about you at all, but it just feels like that.. I don't know, i just don't feel comfortable when i don't know at all where people are talking about:P

it's not our job to help them. I will never donate to another country in AID of help because they can afford to do it themselves if the leaders were not greedy pigs thinking of themselves.

This is kind of like would you steal food to feed your family. They should learn because you shouldnt go into someones country and make them speak your language, but the shouldnt be forced to learn the native language either.

The reason I am even bringing this up is because immigrants who immigrate to America using the accepted legal method are required to be competent enough in english to live, work, and interact on a normal level.

He's got a point. Afterall, immigrants not only have their native tongue, but a proficient English tongue as well, in order to function in the United States. Yes, the US is famed for being accepting of any and all immigrants, which means there really isn't a core language, but the majority of citizens are English-based, so it has to be English. Over in Canada, it's split between English and French, because these are the main languages spoken there. They even have signs that have both languages on it. That's something the US doesn't have.
I mean, it really doesn't take you an hour to locate which language you speak to function in a society. Basic road signs are easy; you don't even need the language to know what a red, octangular object is. Signs to display information, however, is tricky. When you are driving on the highway and you see a sign, you really don't have a lot of time to find which language you speak do you?
My conclusion is....companies should put many different languages on their products for everyone to function. Cars do this for the instruction manuals and such. I really have no clear-cut solution for driving, but everything else is simple. Just put it on there and cry.
