wrong. the tests are run by college board. they have no idea whether or not you took the class, and they will let you sign up for as many tests as you want. It is highly recommended, however that you take the class before you take the test, so you know what you're doing.

Actually the tests are run by your school system, and if the college you plan to go to wants they can allow you to use it as a credit in college.
I'm pretty sure it's 5.0 for all schools. It was in all the schools in my state.

No where close, the majority of schools have a 4.0.
wow. thanks for clarifying that, I bet your friends think you're really smart.

Spamming??? That's only fun when it's not you doing it.
Your parents must be so proud. I also took a few AP classes, But I don't rub it in people's faces.

Can you only spam? I don't believe you took any AP courses due to your bad spamming and the actuality that you seem to be a spamming 10 year old.
Think what you want, but I'm pretty sure he was rubbing it in. Just because he's taking AP classes, it doesn't mean he's not wrong.

I wasn't rubbing it in, I was clearly stating that I am talking from personal experience, due to me talking AP classes.
@PoisOn, if you get on the right plan college as a general will be a ball, and easy to get through.
so you go ahead and insult me for the same thing? ok Mr. Hypocrite. everyone who should be participating in this discussion should know what AP stands for.

You know if you start off insulting everyone in the AG community due to your lack of knowledge, then your AG experience will only get worse.
April 1 is the big day for acceptances...gotta wait for those Ivies and other privates...

Good Luck, hope you get into the college you want.
Also:
I just got into Colby College! That sure made waiting for april 1st a lot less horrible.

Nice, it should make it alot better, remember you always need a backup.

Oops, I left the call part in it. Take it out and the message will make sense.
Sorry for the double post, but otherwise people would point it out causing more post. :P

All AP tests are run by College Board. I'm pretty sure your school can't give you college credit, and if it does, I doubt any college would recognise it because your school's test might be much different from the actual College Board AP tests. Some of the time it is taken at your school, but I know for a fact that all AP tests are run through College Board, and not your school.

No where close, the majority of schools have a 4.0.

yes, the majority, have a 4.0 system FOR NORMAL CLASSES. AP classes, however, typically count for 5, rather than 4 for an A, due to the fact that it's a college level course.

Can you only spam? I don't believe you took any AP courses due to your bad spamming and the actuality that you seem to be a spamming 10 year old.

Believe it or not I did. You see, when taking an AP course, they won't take away points due to how much you spam on forums. Not that I was spamming. Even the Moderator agrees that I wasn't.

I wasn't rubbing it in, I was clearly stating that I am talking from personal experience, due to me talking AP classes.

and I'm sure your parents are proud of you for it, but it definitely looks to me like you were gloating.

You know if you start off insulting everyone in the AG community due to your lack of knowledge, then your AG experience will only get worse.

I didn't call him a hypocrite due to My "lack of knowledge," as you so gingerly put it. It was due to the fact that he told me to stop insulting people, while, In the process, he insulted me. Do you understand? I hope you do, because I'm not gonna explain it to you again.

Actually all AP test are given by the school of which the student attends. Then they can be used as college credits if the college allows.

The majority of schools have a 4.0 system, the others have a 5.0 system. AP classes are counted the same as all the rest of the classes offered. The only difference is that if you pass the AP final test, then the class can be counted as a college credit.
Believe it or not I did. You see, when taking an AP course, they won't take away points due to how much you spam on forums. Not that I was spamming. Even the Moderator agrees that I wasn't.

Cenere stated that all the people weren't spamming, not that you in particular weren't.

I see your saying the same thing as before. Actually I wasn't gloating, but if you want me to I will. I have an I.Q. of 161. Now that's gloating.

Like I said before you are making a bad name for yourself, and it will make your AG experience bad. You need to quite being such a conceited, ignorant, little kid.

Josh is right. the tests are administered by college board, and you don't have to take the class in order to take the test. I would know, because I took the music theory 1 AP test without taking any classes. I have also taken a few other AP tests, and they were all done through College Board. Your teacher might give you the test, but you still have to pay College Board in order to take the test. Also at my school the AP courses count for 5 as well. I've heard that some schools count it for an extra 0.5, and some schools even have grading scales that caps at 16 or somecrazy thing like that, but I'm pretty sure that it's typically 5.0 for AP, and 4.0 for regular classes in the US.

I have applied for a bunch of colleges. Most of them are pretty easy to get into, and I have good grades and test scores, so I'm not too worried.

ok pal, think what you wish, but I know I'm right. There's really nothing else I can reply with that won't be redundant, and that won't turn this thread into a flame war.

About Ap classes...

I think most schools will include both weighted and unweighted gpa's on your highschool transcript. If they don't, you can always add a note to your application showing your weighted GPA.

Therefore, it is largely irrelevant (except for the valedictorian) how your highschool chooses to calculate GPA. What is important is which method your COLLEGE uses. You should always find this out before you choose your classes.

I do have a question, though: if your school uses a 4.0 system, how do you determine who the valedictorian is? At my school, we would have around 10 valedictorians if we didn't weight GPAs (around ten people have straight As).

Valedictorian policy is really different depending on the school. I know some schools have multiple valedictorians because of ties or just because they don't want to disappoint people.

On an almost unrelated note, I think my SNSI just got me a recommendation for the Military Academy.

Nice, so are you going to be in the military for life or just until college is over? (so they will pay and you pay them back in service.)

I don't really know what I want to do if this actually comes true, I was planning on just being a grunt to pay for college and then maybe re-enlisting as a tech.
If I actually go somewhere like Annapolis or West Point I might be able to get the training I'd want in mechanical/electrical engineering there and skip grunt-work altogether.
I think I'd like to serve for as long as I can.
