I'm 13 and I'm going to be circumcised on Saturday, here are my questions. Is it painful? If so, how painful? How long will it take? Will the anesthesia be administered by hypodermic needle or by rubbing? I have somewhat of a phobia of needles. Please reply.
you won't die if you don't get circumcised.... There are a lot of people that are'nt circumcised and some are circumcised... If your not circumcised just means you might have some troubles like infection if you don't clean properly ....
But don't worry if your not having any troubles now with an uncircumcised you know what you have nothing to worry about! If you have problems consult your doctor!
Circumcision is originally a religious practice that comes form the Old Testament of the Bible. Jewish people still circumcise their babies as they believe that it is necessary. In the New Testament, however, it says that circumcised and uncircumcised doesn't matter - which is why it is not a highly common practice in Christianity.
I am assuming that you will have a bit of pain and just be uncomfortable for a while afterwards because there will no longer be a foreskin covering the head of your penis - which is a highly sensitive part of that area.
Unless you already have an infection, I see no reason why you will die if you don't get it done...
Certain facts already established in this thread but worth repeating.
* You will not die if you do not get circumcised.
* Original motives for circumcision include both religious (Jewish) and hygiene (ancient Egypt).
* Current motives for circumcision are generally either religious or cultural "because it's the done thing".
Other facts not mentioned yet:
* Not counting severe abnormalities of the penis, the only medical reasons for circumcision itself are when there is an anatomical defect that prevents the foreskin from being retracted past a reasonable age (generally about 4 or 5) AND there is a risk of further complication as a result.
* There is research that suggests that circumcision is a protective factor against contracting HIV sexually- obviously only via the direct-contact route, noting that HIV can also arise from a blood transfusion pre-late 1980s, a needlestick injury from a known carrier or other kind of exchange of blood/seminal fluid. Proper condom use is just as effective.
* Circumcising a child before the foreskin is retractable (as mentioned above) is medically inadvisable due to the fact you'll have to literally rip it off the glans, and that causes ulceration, which in turn renders the skin vulnerable to infection. However, if you're already able to retract the foreskin, this isn't an issue.
...look, circumcision is a pretty big issue that carries ramifications for a guy's physical and mental health down the line. From a purely medical perspective, it's the only form of paediatric surgery offered at hospitals for which there is pretty much no medical indication for. My personal feeling is that it's not something that should automatically be done, but rather something that should be offered once a guy is considered suitably mature enough to make that decision.
However, far be it from my role at this point to advise objections to well-established cultural practices, so may it all go without a hitch.
I think your sister just trying to scare the hell out of you. I don't know how exactly the process works but you should be highly sensitive for a weeks after the procedure as the foreskin normally acted as a buffer, but it does get better as a lot of the nerve endings become dulled. Although it is uncommon for older children or men to have it, from what I've heard, circumcisions is usually done right after birth, so you don't experience the pain, or at least you don't remember it.
Just curiously, were you given the choice to have this done or not?
No, since in the Philippines it is an overwhelmingly cultural and religious thing that is done when boys reach adolescence. Whether or not he'd want to, he would be made to anyway.

Will the anesthesia be administered by hypodermic needle or by rubbing?
:3
. . . anyway, had to point that out.
Most people here won't know, because most people here are from the US, where circumcision is done at birth for the most part. But knight would, because he's a teenage dude from the Philippines.
I have my foreskin still I live in Australia .... I have had problems where i pulled the skin back and it would'nt go back but it got fixed without circumcision.
