I've always heard, i don't know much about this, but i've always heard that the rate at which the universe is expanding was increasing after all this time.
Think of this. If the universe is everything, but its also constantly expanding. So what is it expanding into? Also, in response to Ion24 that's how scientists think the universe will end and start again in the oscillating universe theory.
Just something to consider on the infinite/finite argument. What if the universe is like a mobius strip or klein bottle? This is basically an infinite shape that can expand.
