Yea I kinda searched through the first 7 pages, and didnt find anything to do with this at all, so i figured.. why not start one myself? Just really wondering what the rest of armor games thinks of BP and the oil leakage....

It still looks like they got the warm water jets turned on for the cap, so they might still be trying to fit it on somehow.

It's pretty messy. I can't tell. It looked to me that it had the same effect if you stuck a garden hose through the bottom of a crock-pot and placed that over a spewing fire hydrant to siphon the spraying water.

Is anyone watching this? There's oil all over the place now. Did something break? What happened? CNNLIVEBP

I'm watching it - I had some hope that they'd stemmed the flow but man, it looks worse than ever.

Two months of leaking oil has negated 50 years of environmentalism in the area.

Ha.

The gov't should step in. The gov't would stop the leak, but BP just wants to figure out how to get oil from it. Look. Before they did this thing, it was leaking about 20,000 barrels a day. They said they were getting about 2,000 barrels a day. Net = 18,000 barrels a day are leaking. Now they cut this valve and capped it, but it caused an increase of 20%. That means it's leaking 24,000 barrels a day, but they are bragging that they can get 6,000 barrels a day now. Net = 18,000 barrels a day.

BP has just reduced its losses by 300% without making any changes to the environmental catastrophe that it caused.

Again. I just saw on cnn.com that BP is letting the oil flow out to reduce the saltwater intake so that crystals don't form.........

I don't trust them. The reason they don't want saltwater in, I think, is that it will mix with the oil that they are collecting, and they will have to filter out the seasalt during the processing. So it's just another reason to involve the Government. I don't see why President Obama is sitting with his hands under his lap on this one.

I think that there was negligence involved but I don't think it warrants criminal charges against BP. Although that remains to be seen - after all they've underplayed the situation and now there is a helluva lot of oil gushing out and destroying the ecosystems in the area.

This is a desnsity independent factor. It doesn't matter how much oil leakage there is anymore. With the amount there is now, it is already catastrophic. Since there will be more, it just means that it is gonna go to places farther away, which I hope hits the asshole in new york that said this won't be that harmful. HE WON'T BE GETTIN OUR FISH FOR A LONG TIME! XPPPP
Anyways, now all we gotta do is wait for them to fix it, before it empties hopefully, and focus on the cleanup.

JEE. I'M PURDY SURE THAT WE CAN'T JUST LIKE, YOU KNOW, MAKE A RIDICULOUSLY HUGE WATER FILTER AMIRITE??

No really though, that would have some nice applications. Why not just make a really frikkin' huge walter filtrator? Dump it in the gulf, take it out after a few weeks/months, then take it to a bunch of different places. Like california. I mean, I live in new mexico (a desert) and we have more clean water than them.

Ever heard of the exon Valdez? that WAS the largest oil spill in the world.

You're not even close to being correct. The Exxon Valdez was actually very minor in comparison to the largest oil spills ever - the danger was that Prince William sound was difficult to access. This one is also comparatively small, it's just that it's tough to plug the well because it's so far cown.
