So I know there's was already a thread about this but I stopped looking for it after 5 pages...

But anyways, this will hopefully be the official Black Ops thread. Talk about it, discuss it, etc. Obviously, the game isn't out yet, but w/e. (That was a ****load of commas)

1) You only get two perks in mutliplayer, and this combination of perks determines your third perk.
2) There is a new armour system, e.g. Cold-Blooded and juggernaut are armours you can wear (not much detail given on this).
3) The FAMAS returns, but is no longer a 3-round burst weapon. Instead it is full-auto.
4) There is no M4. Instead another new gun mentioned seems like it will take its place, the SIG Commando.
5) Other new weapons confirmed include the RPK, Skorpion and MAC11.
6) There is no commando perk. (:])
7) The scavenger perk is included, but no longer replenishes equipment.
8) The One man army perk is also not included.
9) The highest killstreak reward (at this time in devlelopment) is 15.
10) There is no emergency airdrop, but there is a care package.
11) As confirmed before, killstreaks will not stack. For instance, if you get a 5 kills without dying and receive your killstreak reward, the kills you get with that killstreak reward will not count towards your next killsreak (e.g. 7 kill killsteak). You will have to get two more kills, in that instance, by other means to receive your next killstreak.
12) You can sprint to prone in the current build of the game. Basically this means you can dive straight on your belly after sprinting, instead of having to stop, crouch and than go prone.
13) The tactical knife is gone, while a new knife is being introduced: the ballistic knife. This is a knife that has a spring that can shoot a blade (in real life, not necessarily in the game).
14) The claymore is a piece of equipment, and you only get 1 per life.
15) Grenades are not considered equipment, and replenished by scavenger.
16) The M16 is in the game, and still a powerful weapon. (Or as Woody puts it, still the ****!)
17) The PSG1 sniper rifle is in the game.
18) UAV, airstrike and 3 types of helicopters are back as killstreaks. The Pave Low is confirmed as well, and has a feature unique to the game.
19) The SR-71 plane is also one of the killstreak rewards.

I'm super looking forward to the customization experience. I can't wait for green and blue dot scopes. It's going to be awesome.

Indeed! I'll really appreciate having a ghillie suit via perk 1. A green dot sight and of course green camo, AND green facepaint! Ultimate grasshoppa.

I just hope they have those kinds of class amounts though, I can't exactly have a camo for every map and spare classes unless they give me more than 10

Hello guys, DROIDZ1000 here!

I... Can't... Wait... For... Black... Ops...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OR AS I CALL IT!!! THE "EPIC BOX OF EPICNESS"!!!
Yes, that is my opinion. I know I will love Black Ops. I am a hardcore COD fan. I have COD4, MW2, and I will get Black Ops. Epicness... In a box...
That isn't Hardcore CoD fan, I am in the same position and I despise MW2 and just had a TERRIBLE experience on CoD4 concerning an incompetent Admin and a smarky hypocrite. They were both hypocrites but incompetence seems worse, probably because it is.
Black Ops will be great with friends, I can imagine. With kids? Not so much..
You need to level up to unlock a weapon. But then you can buy it, its attachments, camouflages and even variants of sights and other graphical features are buyable after that.
I will REALLY enjoy that.
That shouldn't necessarily be true. Buying guns is an alternative to levelling up, as a reward for your proven skill in competitive matches. Therefore, the guns shouldn't have to be bought, simply unlocked via level progression. When the maximum level is reached you've used your rank as a means of unlocking them, instead of purchasing them, and it's logical that by that point you have unlocked all the guns before.
Unless you mean the final gun is locked from purchase until all the guns before it are unlocked, at which point it still shouldn't be exclusive to purchase (because otherwise you'd be unlocking them and buying them again. Huh?)
SMG's have the Grip attachment
Uh oh. Looks like breaking the game makes the most money, eh?
14 MP maps (not including zombies)
I suppose that's a few. Lets hope map packs are not £10 a piece, otherwise multiplayer is going to get horribly dull.
True, it's a cheap little 'trick' they attempted to pull in making you buy other maps. Bloody rediculous.
Uh oh. Looks like breaking the game makes the most money, eh?
Not necessarily, due to the close-quarter warfare involved with SMG's as well as their hip-fire nature, it is reasonable to assume that it will only be useful for more... 'sophisticated' players. It will also prove useful as a combination with Bling, which I believe is now called 'Warlord' and moved to the second tier perk. Marathon is also increasing limited sprint (not making it unlimited) but is now third perk, lightweight is the first perk. This will be good for people whom prefer to 'rush'.
Also, there seems to be a few sniper locations on these maps which is exceptionally useful and I actually appreciate nearly everything Treyarch has done - 'nearly' because from what I know, Shotguns effectiveness is drastically lowered, and moved to a primary weapon.
But, according to another source, it seems that it takes significantly high firepower to put someone down. Why is this good? You will need good aim! Hip fire will be near-useless unless you are disgracefully bad (no offense) if it carries on, which is very nice indeed.
Also, from yet another source, I believe nearly all snipers one-shot one-kill (stopping power and juggarnaught is absent in this game, and thus the flat damage done by a weapon is the only damage done by a weapon), incredibly useful. I will enjoy not having to give up a perk for such a blatantly useless thing.
I also like how they've split the equipment:
Lethal - Frag Grenades, Semtex and a Tomahawk
Tactical - Tactical Insertion, Claymore, etc.
Special - Decoy, Smoke / Stun / Flash (the usual) grenades.
Lethal is split between desirable but non-required weapons which can prove useful on a multitude of situations, whether its sticking an enemy group or simply cooking a frag-trap, it allows more utility and flexibility.
Decoy is new within Special Grenades, it simulates dots on the Spy Plane whilst giving a realistic illumination of fire. This will be best for observant players whom knows the strategy involved with specific players of the opposing faction, and use the Decoy accordingly. If this is not prefered, you can simply blind or disorient an enemy to give an incredible advantage for the short-term.
Tactical is also great as a split, as it allows more strategic thinking within player ranks which also specify a characters role to a larger degree.
All the customization involved in Black Ops will be very good for clans, say Green aim sights will be for the backbone of a clan in a fight. Orange or yellow will be those whom absorb fire or gather attention, whilst still maintaining their lives. Red will be those whom attempt to scatter enemy ranks and (if you get enough kills) demoralize the opposition in a huge margin.
Anyway, talky talky talky. See you all!
From what I can understand, it works like this:
All guns must be bought. However, the guns are still unlocked for you; You cannot buy a certain gun until you reach the required level. The final gun will remain locked until you buy all the other guns; at which point, you can buy the final gun.
I heard that another Call of Duty is coming out in February can anyone else confirm it for me. If this is true then that sucks because they've given us not long enough with MW2 to 10th prestige but February is like 3 months from November!
A rumored 8th game to the famous Call of Duty franchise to be released in like, what? Five months? I doubt that'll happen sorry
Unless...
No... Way...
If THAT is the next CoD coming out, then it better be morer like CoD4 other than MW2. MW3 is coming out in 2011 it seems, but it is being created between a blend of Activision and Infinity Ward, meaning hindered speed in development - possibly.
All guns must be bought. However, the guns are still unlocked for you; You cannot buy a certain gun until you reach the required level. The final gun will remain locked until you buy all the other guns; at which point, you can buy the final gun.
So instead of spending time to unlock headshots (and thus golden camo), you spend money to get all weapons and unlock the last?
I like this mechanic a lot, however I don't think I'll appreciate the last weapon if it is too powerful or simply not worth the hassle, it needs to have a specific role to it - not all of the roles.
Like the SMG one could be for rushing, the sniper one could be one-shot one-kill no matter what, the LMG one has quick reload, and it goes on, on and on
Cool Idea
I hope that the sniper is in fact a oneshot kill.
Also, some new news... Black Ops Features 3D support...if you have the overpriced Tv. So that's right, all 0.0001 of you can play this game while wearing glasses! One thing that I did find interesting was that along with the PS3 version, the 360 version also can feature 3D. (not sure about PC)
If all guns must be bought then all rank does is give you the ability to purchase a weapon? So, technically, purchasing is not an alternative, it's forced. Could be a problem with the wording of articles, but if that's the case then players have no choice to play at least a few wager matches.
but it is being created between a blend of Activision and Infinity Ward, meaning hindered speed in development - possibly.
Activision are the new EA, churning out s**t every month and getting a lot of cash from it. Infinity Ward are just the people that make what brings in profits. There's more chance that it will be worse than Modern Warfare 2 or it's going to be a 360 exclusive.
Unless that came from official game devs, I doubt that.
(not sure about PC)
With the write hardware and tools, the PC can do anything in 3D.
few wager matches.
You earn currency in a ratio to experience, so wager matches aren't necessary.
The final gun is unlocked after buying all other weapons within that category, meaning if it isn't as efficient then there may not be a point to doing it anyway. So when you say 'forced', it may not be as I've found CoD games final weapons to not exactly be 'top gun'.
