The so called "Evil" antagonist of the Bible. The question comes to this: Why is he the evil one? He killed a mere ten people in the Bible, possibly more to around fifty at most, while God, the supposed good one, killed billions. The only "negative" thing he did was rebel against god, but it was a just rebel. Who would want to live under that tyrant?

So the question comes down to: Why do Christians think Satan is evil?

Satan cannot actually hurt anyone. Satan's corruption is a test from God, I know you love hearing that.

So your saying that Satan tests for god, then why does god torture Satan?

Satan can't hurt anyone? What about the seven sons and three daughters of Job? Or don't those count since God was with him?

What'd Satan do to them?

Job 1
And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Job 1:19

And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

There ya go - look it up in as many translations as you want.

People are still arguing over this? This isn't even a debate anymore.

See Ciina. The purpose of debate is to think logically and come up with an explanation within the realm of belief.

I feel like the people who try to justify their religion dont really fulfill this criteria. And Ciina, if you tried looking for "fulfillment" as an athiest then you were looking in the wrong place. It looks like you were saying "I was looking for a belief structure that gave me self gratification and explained the reason why Im here, but athieism just didnt work, christianity did because it gave me the answers I was looking for", which is great if it works for you.

I cannot stand by while religion is used as a source for great evil in the world. If its all a test I get the feeling those who look for answers in their idols have failed the test and those who sought to create good in this world without looking for some father figure to tell them they did it right would be the ones who passed. Just a thought!

so why is satan the bad guy?
satan gave knowledge to humanity by giving Eve the fruit of knowledge. BECAUSE of Satan, humanity gained knowledge of good and evil

According to Genesis humans didn't possessed the knowledge of good and evil before eating the fruit, therefore adam and eve couldn't have known that eating the fruit was evil, so it seems a little harsh to punish them as severely as god did.

Satan gave humans true capacity for moral judgment, unlike God, who simply expected everyone to mindlessly obey his orders.

There is also 0 biblical record of Satan partaking in murder OR torture of any human being, unlike God who is guilty (and proudly guilty) of committing genocide.

There is also no biblical record of satan ever ordering someone to kill someone else, unlike God, who has repeatedly demanded the deaths of those who commit even the smallest of offenses.

satan does not hold a massively dramatic ceremony full of blood and death for the return of his son to earth, however, god apparently will.

You stated the reason yourself, #3 We're expected to mindlessly obey 'gods' commands. Look at it, he breaks his own commandments. We're nothing but puppets.

Alright, everything you just pointed out says what, Lucifer wishes us to have our freedom. We obey god who says that Lucifer is evil, while in reality all Lucifer is doing is going against his wishes. See what I mean?

false kid.

everything I pointed out is that satan might not be so bad. when in reality that's not the case. people grew up to hearing that satan is a bad person while in reality god seems to be the entity doing all the killing. see what I mean?

therefore adam and eve couldn't have known that eating the fruit was evil

Well, God told them NOT to eat the fruit. Because of Satan's making them eat the fruit, they became mortal, and that's what Satan wanted and knew would happen.
