I don't like it because I know it looks great and everything, but thats its only saving grace, the story is nothing new, the idea is nothing new, its just greedy humans destroying stuff for money, kinda like that blue and green planet in our solar system. The only interesting part of the story is that the people can communicate with the animals on their planet through ear sex or whatever you want to call it, but even that is trying to show how unconnected humans are with their environment. All of this stuff has been done before, its like an inconvenient only with james cameron, giant blue people, and a different planet. It did look really sweet and 3-D was awesome, but those things take back seat to me if a movie cant deliver a good story, unless of course its a very funny comedy or great action flick, which this was neither of.
Of course it looked good, but it pretty much ripped the idea from Dances With Wolves and other such works.
The only thing I really liked about it was how it was filmed with Pandora already loaded into the camera, instead of just putting everyone in there towards the end of production.
I agree with chunkapie. The only thing good about the movie was the 3D/special effects. If I were to have seen that movie in regular 2D I would have walked out saying "That was a very mediocre film" much sooner than I'm saying it now.
I loved this movie the first three times, in 3d and stuff, but then I rented it, and it was so boring! It needs 3d. And also, it's so long that I never want to see it again.
It is quite long, isn't it? I finally discovered why I loved Avatar so much. It's because..wait for it...I'm easy to please. The movie to me also seemed worthy of the title, in modern terms, "epic".
I thought it was a horrible rip off of all the other movies that came before it. I went in with high expectations and came out thinking that it was bad which may be a reason of my opinion of the movie...
