Now before you flip out saying put it in the video games section or something.

This isn't about the video game coming out, this is about what the game is about. North Korea Invades the US. In other words a discussion about whether or not it could really happen.

In the game (Not yet released btw) North and South Korea become one and are renamed: The Greater Korean Republic. They are led by Kim Ill Oun (or what ever) and take over Japan and most of Asia, South Asia, and Australia. Then they have a "communication" satellite that ends up launching an emp (electro magnetic pulse) attack and invade the country.

Like I said, do you think that North Korea would (could?) do that?

Hope I get the link right (The video, if your old enough, can tell that better than me: [url=http://www.homefront-game.com/]

Honesly this wouldn't be happening. The premise is simply not feasible.

Firstly, North and South Korea wouldn't unite, given that one is a democratic nation, one a semi communist regime. Also China wouldn't be overrun, nor do I think that they would join overtly, as they would risk one of their primary sources of income, exportation, which would be cut off should they overtly join with North Korea in any aggressions against another nation, and Japan would not be conquered by such a regime, even if it existed.

The US has adopted Japan as a protectorate of sorts after the treaties ending WWII and we would be there en masse should any nation take action against them, as would our allies in the UK and eastern Europe.

An interesting idea, but simply not feasible in the real world.

Well, it actually might happen (though it will fall short) I mean those N. Koreans are crazy.

I don't think the two sides would willingly unite. They only way I see North and South Korea uniting is if one took over the other. And if they did, and actually started attacking other countries, they'd get so many countries on their asses that it would make it really hard for them to successfully take over one.

Don't you think that the U.S. would interfere before they became that powerful? Think about those kind of things.

I think the given scenario Japan willingly become part of Korea, the video for it didnt say anything about them fighting back.

Japan would never join N.Korea in any situation. They are under U.S protection and have strong ties to the U.S.

Japan would never join Korea period, do you have any idea what they think of non-Japanese people? If you do, they hate Koreans at least twice as much as everyone else.

It wouldn't happen. NK army might be big, but ours is bigger.

That, and we far outgun them. And the second the launch any satellite, it's dropping out of the sky by one of our missiles.

Orion you missed a couple of points, according to the OP, China has willingly joined or been conquered (highly doubtful) and become a part of their empire. This means that all 1,000,000 soldiers in China's military are now available for combat. Note that China's military is completely within the country it's self, so the ferrying in of troops would be unnecessary allowing them to mobilize faster, while our troops who are scattered world over, would respond much more slowly. Especially if there is an EMP that can take out communications.

They wouldn't get that far, that's my point. The EMP from the satellite wouldn't get there, because the satellite would be at the bottom of the Pacific before it even hit space. Then the entire plan would fail from that point.

Our troops can mobilize in 18 hours to anywhere on earth. That's why we're so good at what we do. We can take any country by surprise before they got the chance.

Fortunately China wouldn't be happy with NK anyways, and would probably do it themselves.

Well, the satellite was disguised as a communication satellite. With the given situation (the one thats its all about) "The Greater Korean Republic" owned China, and most of Asia before attacking the US.

Im sure its designed to be and alternate world situation, where Japan doesnt have great ties to America.

Actually it wouldn't even get that far, if you watched the trailer it show that the EMP satellite wasn't launched until Korea had a definitive base of power. Not to mention this would never happen because unless there is a fully operating puppet govt. in place, South Korea would never reunite with North Korea.

Sorry about the double post, anyways according to the trailer, "Faced with total annihilation by the Greater Korean Republic, Japan has surrendered" or something to that effect.

I wonder if it took a couple nukes like last time. >.>

The game seems a little far fetched. Entertaining as hell, but a little out there.
