Now before you flip out saying put it in the video games section or something.

This isn't about the video game coming out, this is about what the game is about. North Korea Invades the US. In other words a discussion about whether or not it could really happen.

In the game (Not yet released btw) North and South Korea become one and are renamed: The Greater Korean Republic. They are led by Kim Ill Oun (or what ever) and take over Japan and most of Asia, South Asia, and Australia. Then they have a "communication" satellite that ends up launching an emp (electro magnetic pulse) attack and invade the country.

Like I said, do you think that North Korea would (could?) do that?

Hope I get the link right (The video, if your old enough, can tell that better than me: [url=http://www.homefront-game.com/]

But from what I saw on the news, they were testing it in underground caves.

Correct, as have all nuclear tests since god knows when. Atmospheric and underwater nuclear testing was banned decades ago, and is still international law. The peace wussies at the UN grow a pair whenever you disobey their laws, especially the security council.

Anyways, it's safe to say that NK isn't going to be invading any time soon.

No, it wouldn't happen, it's not at all plausible. China doesn't like wars.

No one said anything about China being in a war.

i think, under the conditions above, the U.S would be devastated. for one, they would lose MULTIPLE vital trade partners in asia and particularly china, japan and australia. secondly, the emp would absolutely immobilize any attempts to gather the U.S's far-stretched military. nearly every single electronic in the whole US would be fried, lead ing to fires, disease, ruptured resource lines( gas water, etc) and no available form of mass transportation without any cars.

^ You missed the entire EMP conversation didn't you? Our best ways to transport our soldiers could be shut down within seconds, because we have become so reliable on technology. With an EMP the enemy wouldn't need bombs, all they would have to do is fire it within the general vicinity of a city and any aircraft flying over it would suddenly crash straight into the city.

Thats when simple terrorism turns into a full blown attack.

They are led by Kim Ill Oun (or what ever) and take over Japan and most of Asia, South Asia, and Australia.

Lets talk about China for a minute so you said most of Asia. To be honest, The Greater Korean Republic wouldn't have troubles invading China. If Japan (Smaller than the two Korea's combined) can successfully invaded 1/4 of China, then it would be a little simple. Plus, China hasn't been in a war for a long time and wants to continue that so it would probably give up without a fight.

Kim III Oun would guarenteed to leave Russia alone and make it stay at it's "never successfully invaded ever" status.

Next, the US's technology would be advanced enough to know that their "Comm Satellite" is a EMP emitter and blast it down before releasing the pulse. Other countries are also watching the skies and if they see something hostile to their allies or themselves... well, you get the point.

Speaking of other countries, there are also many other nations the the GKR has to deal with (Britain, Germany, RUSSIA, Canada, etc.) and will most likely join forces with the US, sharing their power with them (if the EMP is successful) and beat the living crap out of the Koreans.

Plus, if the Koreans try to invade US, the Army will just set up shop all along the Pacific watching the seas and skies 24/7 with explosives, ships, subs, and AA guns. Megaphones will be used, messenger doves, runners, anything to communicate and get the word out just like WWI.

This game is going to have a lot of criticism on accuracy and common sense. And will probably make Kim Jong feel good about his nation for once.

Japan was once a military machine while China a bit of a backwater, that's been reversed now, with China boasting the worlds largest military, and Japan having little more than a large national police force.

Kim III Oun would guarenteed to leave Russia alone and make it stay at it's "never successfully invaded ever" status.

Forgetting of the Mongol's Golden Horde? Only successful invasion and occupation of Russia.

Won't even need the Army, the Navy will probably be enough to keep their entire forces at bay long enough to mount a counter-offensive.

explain to me then how a ship would run w/ electricity. unless u have rowboats, aint nothing moving outta bay. an emp only needs to be dropped at a certain high altitude to virtually destroy the U.S's infrastructure.only maybe those old fallout shelters in cold war military bases ( some still active) wouldnt be affected. it an EMP would send the U.S back a lot against any invading force.

It depends on the electronics used in the ships and how well people will be at organizing a repair effort. Electronics turned off have much less risk of being damaged, so it probably wouldn't be as bad as most people think.

Oh, and you said 'with', not 'without', which rendered your question almost entirely moot.
