Now before you flip out saying put it in the video games section or something.
This isn't about the video game coming out, this is about what the game is about. North Korea Invades the US. In other words a discussion about whether or not it could really happen.
In the game (Not yet released btw) North and South Korea become one and are renamed: The Greater Korean Republic. They are led by Kim Ill Oun (or what ever) and take over Japan and most of Asia, South Asia, and Australia. Then they have a "communication" satellite that ends up launching an emp (electro magnetic pulse) attack and invade the country.
Like I said, do you think that North Korea would (could?) do that?
Hope I get the link right (The video, if your old enough, can tell that better than me: [url=http://www.homefront-game.com/]
OK so I watched this trailer a while back, and the only real criticism I have with it is that I agree that it is unlikely for North Korea to convince South Korea in any way to join them, especially since North Korea's GDP is actually much lower then South Korea's cutting out the idea that South Korea would ever need North Korea's financial aid.
As for Korea taking over Japan. The idea was that America becomes bad off financially causing civil unrest leading the government to abandon its Asian allies for whatever reason whether it be to conserve resources, or if they needed soldiers back home to control the situation there. Once this happens Japan is put under the threat of annihilation by Korea and with this surrenders control to them.
NUKE. NORTH. KOREA.
As far as the story goes, the problem with this is that America at the time can not afford war, or the risk of Mutually Assured Destruction(MAD) and after North Korea uses the EMP all nukes within America would(I would assume) go offline making it impossible for America to retaliate in that manner.
3 words will solve this possibly terrible cut-and-paste game...
The only problem with that statement is that the story is actually a bit more original then most that have come out for any First Person Shooters lately, whether it be Russia vs. America, Aliens vs. Earth, or maybe just for some extra controversy China vs. America, so a game where American militias go up against some sort of Korean empire doesn't sound like a cut-and-paste game to me.
