This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.

Here's the first line:

A mountain pokes out awkward in the mist

my stomach twists, nauseated
this horrid thing before me
laying there, unmoving, mangled

what creature this thing is, unknown
red is strewn all about the place
a wretched smell emits from it.

I turn away, can't take anymore
this horrid scene burned into my head
a most disgusting thing, I puke.

My stomach twists, nauseated.
It's that feeling that I've hated.
It's coming back to haunt me,
I'm beginning to lose what I see.
I fall over, having fainted.
That part of my life was tainted.

In the fires of hell, evil dwells
With grinding and gnashing of teeth
Spikes and brands in abundance
Demons torture souls with glee
The screams of the wicked floating up
Echo in the dreams of the living
The happy squirrel had chubby cheeks

Oh come on...squirrels....

The happy squirrel had chubby cheeks
More acorn nuts it seeks
Sauntering lazily on the ground.
Never making a sound.

You have no idea of what I'm capable of

'You have no idea of what I'm capable of!'
I scream to those that lie above.
And soon lust after my sweet revenge,
Just like a drunkard without his binge.

And so begins my epic tale,
Of furies strength, a roaring gale.
Perilous journeys throughout this land;
Blood soaking into the golden sand.

I track down those who did me wrong,
Actions ring louder than a gong.
Most of them I put to flight,
Others I take without a fight.

Attrocities flow from my works,
And bodies give their final jerks.
As I set the world on fire,
Its situation is none more dire.

And soon my story comes to an end;
A river must have its final bend.
But I showed those who hid above,
Just what things I'm cap'ble of.

Out of the blackest night
A light shines forth green and bright
No evil escapes it's sight
A force for justice
No matter the odds
Ready at a moments notice
The rabbit is in the carrot patch!

The rabbit is in the carrot patch,
That running carrot he's trying to catch,
He wants that to eat,
Rather than a simple meat,
A carrot is what he wants,
Til he get's it, it will haunt.
Yes, the rabbit is in the carrot patch,
The carrot, is there on watch.

On a journey to hide, back from the land we lived inside.
Keep running, and don't turn back.
If they spot your face, they will shoot and that's a fact.
Don't drop what you are holding, and if you do leave it there.
The thought of losing you to them, is something I don't think I can bear.
We are leaving so you can live, a free and full life.
Don't worry Son, by the end of this journey I'm sure it will be the end of my strife.
Carry on, Carry on, Don't let me slow you down.
Make a good life with the freedom that is to soon be found.
Keep going, make sure to keep your head low.
If they have spies in the trees, It is something I don't know.
We made it to the edges, now run and don't stop.
I'll catch up in a bit, But I can't promise I won't get caught.

Spinning around and around
Not knowing when to stop,
Sniffing like a hound
Going till you drop.

In your mind a hole,
An open door for the ghosts.
Deep under just like a mole,
You find what you most want.

The blurry streets,
Fell just like home.
You look at your feet
Your life is gone.

One last try,
One last call,
You need to buy,
You need a loan.

The door shuts,
Nowhere to go,
A need in your guts,
Everything is lost.

Going in the wrong way

Going in the wrong way
Looking for another way out
Can't find the back door
It's useless to scream or shout.

Deserted and desolate,
Barren and cold
Why does that voice scream at me?
So defiant, and bold?

Guiding me through the paths
Like and invisble hand
Showing me how
To cross this foreign land.

Wake me up Wake me up,
Started to whimper like a pup,
Lost in my dreams,
A nightmare it seems,
I need to wake,
Before, my life it will take,
When I woke up, I was covered in sweat,
I was also frightened to death.

Death in my dreams, hell it seems.

Death in my dreams, hell it seems
Reaper swinging, demon giggling
Bullet piercing, body arching
Waking from one dream to another
I travel on
Deeper into my dream

The cow chewed stodgily,
Savoring every bite,
Gulping it down,
a delight,
Suddenly, it was all gone.

He lurked around for some more,
Looking everywhere,
Suddenly he found one at a door,
It was a butchers.

The butcher sawed of his head,
Watching the blood drip,
The cow, was now dead.
The cow was chewed stodgily.

The change of hand,
From right to left,
Because I can't write right,
No matter how hard I try.

But the teacher glares,
At my scrawling left hand,
Because I mustn't write wrong,
Even though I'm only nine.

And this, I fear, is it.
