Sexual addiction is a pattern of sexual behaviours that are out of control and continue despite negative consequences. As in other addictions, changes in brain chemistry are at the core of the addiction. In sex addiction, the changes are caused by sexual behavior and fantasizing about sex or romantic activities. Sex addiction is a process addiction because no chemicals are taken into the body. Chemical changes occur in the body because of the addicts behaviours. Any sexual activity that causes changes in body chemistry can become and addiction. Even on-line romances become addictive when they are a substitute for reality or a way to escape reality.
Sex addiction..anyone know of anyone that has a sex addiction? Its terrible!
Never heard of anyone having negative consequences imagining sex, but i have seen something on tv about it before i think like people just view internet porn all day and dont have a job and stuff. As in any addiction though, it could be not major. Everyone has or has had sexual fantasies.
I know no one in real life like this, and if i did i would unknow them.
LOL! I thought all girls were allergic to sex. But it's not true. There are those addicted to it too. Weird thing, it seems that there is not something in the middle...
Right, this isn't the Tavern, so if everyone could please put on their serious faces and not handle this subject like a bunch of teenage boys - whether or not you are a bunch of teenage boys. Also try to keep the lewd remarks away.
(Really sucks that I get to be all excited about finally seeing another sexually related thread in here, and then having to look at... The joking, or whatyama call it.)
*scratches head* I don't really know what you wanted to start this topic for, though. What are we talking here, nymphomaniacs? People who just want to have a lot of sex all the time? And why this thread?
Okay, let's try to take a real-life example. This could either turn the thread into something good... or wreck it completely.
Tiger Woods.
Following the explosive set of revelations that he has had goodness-knows-how-many mistresses, it was then revealed that he had booked himself in for therapy to treat, wait for it: sex addiction.

Now that he is getting a divorce (and $780 million later), is he truly addicted or just someone that has a lot of money and used his fame to sleep around?
Sex addiction is serious because it distracts the addict from normal daily functions--they get to the point where they cannot do normal chores, work a regular job, engage in normal social interaction, et cetera without there being a constant interruption. It's a mental condition, as the original post said, but it affects the daily lives of the afflicted.
And this does not mean Tiger Woods. An affair does not mean he is addicted--he was a successful golfer. Sex addictions have their varying degrees, but a lot of the time these individuals chronically please themselves (including public areas to relieve the 'torture' that is their addiction).
An addiction is an addiction--the body convinced it needs something when it doesn't (i.e., drugs, food, self-mutilation). Those that suffer from any addiction suffer greatly when in the process of recovery. It's a difficult path, many are embarrassed of their addiction or in denial about it, and not all seek help.
I have a minor sex addiction...Im always on some Pornographic site. (IM 18 so its not weird) Im taking therapy btw. Its good to see Zophia and Strop on the prowl. They shaped me into a good and nice forum user. (Looks at the whip scars and dies a little bit more inside)
