How do you feel about Zodiac Signs, do you take them for mere gospel, or are you stuck to your daily horoscopes everyday?

Do you compare two Zodiac signs when looking for love & lust, or do you snigger at the thought of Signs & Symbols playing with the game of life and controlling our paths?

Enjoy, i'm eager to see peoples opinions on this one.

Hmm Im an aquarius,I wish it was cooler, but I never really read into horoscopes because the idea that giant balls of flaming gas influnece my life, besides giving light and warmth, seems silly.

Sagittarius.
I think a centaur archer fits me well, but I hold no faith in astrology. I read mine when I can be bothered to, only for entertainment.

I happen to be Capricorn, myself. It's strange how many people go live their lives and then stumble upon something like a zodiac, and realize how closely it plays into their personality. The same thing seems to happen with names as well. Hmm... Maybe that would be a good topic to start a thread on.

I'm an aquarius, but I find the whole notion ridiculous. Even as an atheist I would believe in God before I'd believe in astrology. Is anyone aware of whether it is even widely practiced anymore?

I'm a Taurus. Books are always saying I'm stubborn but dependable and I dunno if that's really true.

I can't say I'm really into astrology and zodiac signs, but I find it semi-interesting. I prefer looking at it from the Greek mythology point of view so I know the stories of the different constellations and whatnot.

I'm a Leo. According to that I am suppose to be outgoing and friendly but, I don't really like people that much. Also, if I read my horoscope it is usually wrong. One time it was right, once! I think it is all a bunch of crap.

Another thing to add about horoscopes is even though sometimes they get it right every so often for me I always remeber the saying "even a stopped clock is right twice a day".

That is very true. But, the horoscopes are funny.

I'm a Scorpio, but I find it interesting that it finds particular events in my life that happened and talks about it on a newspaper (even though if it was this month, the events were from a few months ago). However. How it works is that it takes something so general that it HAS to fit in with all the rest of the Scorpios. I sometimes question it, because I've seen the same topics mentioned in other months, which shouldn't be there.

Zodiacs and their corresponding predictions are just like tarot readings, palm readings, and other forms of fortune telling. They are vague enough to apply to just about anyone and any number of events could be considered 'redicted' based on how you interpret the prediction.

Well, you'd be right for most of them, I don't really listen to those ones. It's just kind of entertaining when the more specific ones are accurate 100% of the time.

But unlike tarot cards, which hide behind a veil of mysticism (or something like that) zodiac readings are supposed to be based on something actual - namely, the location of a particular constellation in the night sky. And so with zodiac readings, this allows us to claim that the premises upon which the readings are founded are false. There are two major problems with the zodiac system:

1) It's based on the 12 signs of the zodiac, which correspond to constellations along the ecliptic - the path the sun follows across the sky. The problem is that there are actually 13 of these constellations. Yet the 13th "zodiac", Ophiuchus, is completely overlooked in astrology.

2) The earth's procession (a slight wobble on its axis) has also caused the zodiacs' appearance along the ecliptic to fall on different dates than those recognized by astrologers. The zodiacs were named for which constellation the sun located in (or something like that). For example my birthday, which is tomorrow (July 16) should make me a Cancer, according to the zodiac calendar. But in actuality, the "Cancer" period doesn't start until Jul 20. By modern readings, I'm technically a Gemini.

The fact that so many Americans believe in horoscopes and zodiac signs is yet another indication of how truly stupid we all are.

No, not stupid just easily manipulated and misguided. It's like a placebo if your told that today will be a bad day your highly likely to follow through with that mindset even though it's a normal day.
