after reading WW3...who would win i thought that i would ask what would spark the flames of war. WW1 started by a political matter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand being assassinated for example... i think that it will start over something like oil or possibly water.

Its pretty hard to predetermine what a war is going to be over, but im going to have to agree with SosolidClaws the safest bet would be Natural Resources like oil.

Religion and resources are what I think it would be over.

Money. It's always money. Oil is money, water is money, guns are money, hookers are money. It's always money

I would estimate that either religion or territory would be the primary motivating factors in the next major conflict.

Territory seems to have been the major cause of a lot of wars in the recent millenium such as the crusades and the World Wars (territorial expansion for the German Empire) but I think that quicker and quicker, Natural Resources are going to start becoming more important.
What the war is going to be over solely depends on when the war is going to be. But for now territory and religion are probably the best bet for a 21st century war. Ex) Isreal - Palestine

Everything. It will not be over one thing, and I believe it would be naive to think so.

It will be internal dissension, outward expanse gobbling up valuable resources, politics such as certain leaders totally offending a country that they are trying to ally with.

No one thing will prompt a world war, never has.

Maybee oil or a similar reasorce but politcal reasons and power reasons maybee one country may get "Edgy" over a "communist" country haveing a "large" amount of "nuclear" weapons

maybe; resource; political; having

Ok, now that I got that figured out, oil may be a motivating factor, but I am of the mind that we are going to have quite a bit of it after our current conflicts. I doubt it will play heavily into the next conflict.
Political reasons are always a motivating factor, so to state it is really redundant.
Regarding the nuclear weapons, anyone who has them already has too many, and those that are trying to get them are not going to be able to produce enough to compete with the major world powers. And honestly if someone was going to go to war over nukes we would have probably done it already.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 160 active warheads, with up to 65 more in reserve and ready to be activated.

In comparison the U.S. has approximately 5,000 fully operational and deployed nuclear weapons.

Most likely over Natural Resources and greed. Not a very pleasant topic to think about...
