Thank you Driejen for that rather (unintentionally I assume) insulting post. Some of us are Asexual and don't desire sex in the slightest and it's more common than you think - between 1 and 1.6% of adult males are Asexual.
Anyway, aside from my rant - Pornography has advantages and disadvantages. It can spice up a love life or crumble it down, it helps people learn and gives them the wrong impressions. It's hard to find a positive point for pornography that doesn't have an opposite and visa versa.
You may all wish to take a look at this thread which had debates on the moral sides of watching porn and so on and so on...
I'm considering locking this for being a little too close to being a duplicate and being under high risk of getting repetitive "no, unless X" replies. The thread about masturbation is already getting too many of those. But the last page seems lively enough with discussionings...
My opinion: It depends entirely on what kind of porn you look at. Pornography is not educational. It's quite possible to learn something from it, but it is NOT educational. That word just does not fit. :/
The actually production of such material I would regard as wrong but the fantasizing of such material I don't, even if it is something as reprehensible as child porn. I would much rather the person deal with those feeling in their own mind looking at pictures rather then finding the real thing and acting on those feelings. The material used wouldn't have to be real, I'm sure there are plenty of completely fictional imagery that could be used.
Haven't particularly looked into the psychology of such things, but isn't it quite possible for continued - use of such fantasies to strengthen the feelings until actually experiencing them irl becomes seemingly more and more important? Not limited to the more deviant things such as pedo- or necrophilia, but also just to having sex in general. A "the more you think about it, the more you will want it" sort of thing. Not that I'd say total abstinence from such thoughts and imagery would help either.
I'm not sure if I follow your reasoning here.
What is "normal" in regards to morals & sexuality in society has changed fairly fast the last decades. What I think he meant, is that the exposure to pornography cause young people to think less seriously of sex, to think of it as something you "just" do and quite likely will do with a lot of people, so you may as well get to it and it doesn't really matter who you do it with. Or something like that.

Not necessarily. Let's say someone who's dating fantasies about having group orgies. Does that mean the more they look at porn geared to that genre and fantasize about it the more likely they will be to cheat? This idea that if you fantasize about it your going to do it or want to do it irl sounds a lot like the argument that violent video games makes you violet. Just because someone fantasizes about something doesn't mean they will go live that fantasy out.

I'm not seeing how that would work. It's pretty clear porn does not reflect reality and the usual methods to get someone to have sex with you in porn would likely not work. So even if they some how got this idea in there head the implementation of it would likely not be very successful.

I think the keywords here are "not necessarily", though. I'm not saying it's the norm, I could just easily see it working like that. ._.

Not that directly. More... Premarital sex is normal now. Relationships really aren't expected to last at all unless you're... Past 20 or nearing 30. Yet it's (as far as I know) perceived as normal for teens to have sex.
The general public's opinions about when it's okay to have sex and who it's okay to have it with has changed. Sex being less of a taboo subject most likely has been part of causing this change, and porn have been a part of making it less taboo.
So... Not directly, but may somehow have been a factor.

I would think if ones fantasy drives a person to commit a crime then there were likely other factors involved in the first place, thus the "not necessarily". But the point is if it's not the norm then it can hardly be used as a point against such material.

I see making sex less of a taboo as being a good thing. Not sure how it is in the rest of the world but America on average is far to sexually repressed.

I completely agree on making it less of a taboo being a good thing. An awesome thing, really. Just...
Am kinda worried about the way some kids treat sex and relationships. But I don't personally blame pornography.

I never said it'd be what drove that person to it. Just that rather than trying to get completely rid of urges for illegal or harmful things, one indulge in them in small amounts... Depending on the person, that's either better or worse, and may either relieve some tension or help build up a stronger one...
Still, though, the only thing I think I'm disagreeing with you on is whether possession of illegal porn should be as illegal as making it.

My position on it is that it shouldn't be illegal to possess it, just to make and distribute it. Also I have no issue with the making and distribution of completely fiction material depicting such acts such as cartoons or computer generated images since no real person was involved in the development.
funny how sex is stereo typed as being "bad", and yet their are all these 7 ear olds blowing each others heads off on video games. Sex is natural instincts, i believe blowing someones head off with a gun isnt. I AM NOT implying that 7 year olds should be associate with sex. If someone could understand how these views on sex came to be i would appreciate.

Agree on the cartoon/computer-made. Disagree on the possession of real photos of stuff such as child abuse, although possession is nowhere near as bad as creating it, and possessing as well as distributing it is definitely worse than just possessing... But I've realized I'm totally biased, because stuff involving kids is the only kind I care about in this matter - if people have photos of sex with dead ones, well shrug, although that should probably be illegal to make as well.

The reason people think sex is bad because of religion, (at least in my religion, Christianity) is that sex is something that is meant for after marriage and only for that one person. Having sex before marriage and with multiple people is not what it was created for. It was created for the enjoyment of your spouse.
On the subject of porn, I think that any form of it is wrong.
Sex is perfectly natural (without it none of us would be here). If your God really existed and if he really wanted sex to be between 2 partners and after marriage then surely he would have made us to mate for life? Or with some inbuilt mechanism to stop us from having sex before marriage?
As it stands - it's in our nature to seek out sexual intercourse with as many people as possible to ensure the continuation of our blood lines and of our species as a whole.

Thanks. You used almost my words. But it's not true. MEN try to have as many intercourses as possible; WOMEN try to get a strong (or in our setting, rich) man to defend her children and herself. Those 2 instinct are in clear opposition, but it makes sense, since a man can sire a thousand of children, while a woman can bear, at most 20 children.

Then explain why women enjoy having multiple partners just as much as men? Or women that have intercourse with men who are less wealthy, secure, or able to provide than the man they are with?

Yeah I am going to have to agree with MRWalker82 on that one. Society tends to form people to have certain values. If it where not for the fact that it is widely acknowledged that if a man sleeps with multiple partners he is held up as a "laya" for lack of a better term, and a woman who sleeps with multiple partners is considered a slut, it would be a little more equal. But naturally, we all have the same urges and general wants. Why should men be the only ones to want strange sex? And another question is, do we all naturally want to have children? I my self and my wife both do not want children. But we both enjoy intercourse. I feel it is more of the suggestion and force feeding of society that tells you, that you must live by this structure. That you must get married at some point, and you must have children.
