Do you think that we will ever get rid of all of the nuclear bombs in the world? I personally would feel unsafe if the US got rid of all their bombs before other countries that have bad feelings towards the US.
If America is the great, free, and clean, then how come we're the only one whose used a nuke in the history of the world?
Because we nuke other people to make sure we stay great. Dropping some bombs on us, then fighting back when we come knocking makes you look like you're standing up to us. This we cannot abide, and rather than fight you man for man, which would kill all of you and us, we just kill some of you then make you piss your pants and sit back down.
It was a win-slightly lose scenario. What were we supposed to do? Triple our casualties?
There might be but a bigger and better weapon has to come along like a big lazer cannon that shot up in the sky reflected off some satilites and hit the target to want to destorey
As long as Russia has nukes, the rest of the world will have nukes. It's up to them right now.
I think nukes are good for the world. Countries are being kept in a sort of Mexican standoff because of them. Nukes could cause both countries in a war to be glassed in under 24 hours. It would be a lose-lose situation that pretty much anybody without a death wish wouldn't want. So tl;dr, nukes promote peace.

So you saying that if a country launched nukes at yours you would want to launch nukes back and destory that country to, i dont see the point to much pointless killing.

I never said I would launch nukes back in that situation. I'm saying that it is a lose-lose situation that no one will want to start because it's instinct to fight back. I'm saying that a conventional war between major world powers wouldn't start because of the danger of nukes. The only time a war started between two countries with nuclear weapons was with some minor stuff between China and Russia in 1969.

It's the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction. The idea, hopefully, is that no one will fire for fear of being fired upon. We have to look at the situation realistically - no one right now is willing to disarm unless everyone else does. But then there's still a worry about countries like North Korea or Iran develop nuclear weapons. And if we've already disarmed if/when that happens, we'll be SOL. I suppose the devastation that one nuclear weapon can wreak is rather daunting. But the firestorm unloaded on cities like Dresden during WWII were far great, in terms of explosive power, than either of the bombs dropped in Japan.
I think the short answer to this question is a resounding "No." Unless, that is, some more powerful ordinance is developed. But even if we do reach a point where nuclear weapons are no longer a threat, the threat of traditional ordinance still looms.
