Okay, so here's the arpeg. What do you think?
Battlefront 1861

Battlefront: The military sector in which actual combat takes place.
The American Civil War began on April 12, 1861 when the Confederate assault on Fort Sumter brought tensions between the northern states of the USA and the southern states of the USA to a boil, finally kicking off the bloodiest conflict in United States history, and in only four years had claimed the lives of anywhere between 618,000 to 700,000 Americans. Now, it is your turn to enter the war. You must fight for the Confederates or the Union, and turn the tide of the War Between the States.

Name: First and last name, please. Middle name optional. Do not include rank.
Age: 14-60. Neither army was very picky about who they allowed to enlist. They needed everyone they could get.
Side: Confederate or Union.
Home State: Not required. Connected to "side".
Rank: Private, unless your class is Officer, in which case you start off as a Lieutenant.
Health: 50/50
Class: Look below to see the classes.
Skill: See "Classes"
Perk: You can have one perk. Check below, in Perks.
Weapon: See "Classes".
Clothing: Confederate Uniform or Union Uniform, according to your side, Haversack(kind of like a backpack, it's what you carry your stuff in).
Other Equipment: Bedroll, Canteen, Rations[1 week]. For the rest, see Classes.
Allies/Troops: See Classes.

Classes(all the classes are the same for either side).
Cavalryman: The horse-riding branch of the military. Used as reconnaissance, or to harrass the enemy slowly but surely, so that they will either slow down or stop. Starts out with a Trained Horse, a Pistol[2/2], and a Saber. Skill is "Horsemanship", the ability to train a horse for battle, and skillfully ride it.
Officer: The high-ranking commanders of the battlefield. Used as an in-combat commander, the Officer not only commands troops, but can take out enemies of their own. Starts out with a Saber, a Pistol[2/2], and 10 Troops. Skill is "Command", to control troops on the same side as you to do what you tell them to.
Infantryman: The on-foot backbone of the war. Used for nearly everything, from defense to offense to drawn-out battles. Starts out with a Musket[5/5], and a Bayonet. Skill is "Sharpshooter", the ability to reload your weapon faster and aim more accurately.
Artilleryman: The "big guns" of the war. The artillerymen must work as a seamless team, because it takes five or so people to operate a cannon, but when it works, it can take out nearly anything. Used for offense or defense. Starts out with a Cannon, a Snake(sharp, swordlike tool that they use to load the cannon, but can also be used as a makeshift weapon), Flint and Tinder, 5 allies, and a Knife. Skill is "Heavy Artillery", which is the ability to load and fire cannons and mortars accurately and more quickly than untrained people trying to operate them.
Other: You can create your own class, HOWEVER, it must be approved by me. Please attempt to make it historically accurate and do not make it overpowered.

Perks: A perk is a little something extra. You can gain perks throughout the game by doing amazing feats, but most of you are going to end up with only the perk you pick at the beginning, so choose wisely! Your perk(s) are what set you apart from other soldiers just like you.
Sharp: Players with the "Sharp" perk are more skilled with a sword, and can wield it much more efficiently than soldiers without the perk.
Resiliency: Players with the "Resiliency" perk are not only more resistant to disease, but if they do get it, it does less damage and goes away quicker. Plus, they can go longer without food, water, and sleep without feeling the effects.
Squeaky Clean: Players with the "Squeaky Clean" perk automatically take much better care of all their weapons, meaning they're less likely to malfunction(and blow up in your face).
Locked and Loaded: Players with the "Locked and Loaded" perk are better with small arms like pistols, meaning they're more accurate with a pistol and fire faster.
Other: As with classes, you can make your own perk, but also as with classes, it must be accurate, not overpowered, and must be approved by me.

Also: I know that in the Civil War, disease actually killed many more people than bullets. However, just to make this interesting, you can and must find some way to make sure that your character doesn't get sick(they will, just not with a fatal disease, as long as you take precautions. If you have Resiliency, chances are you won't even get a minor disease). So, read up, and find out how you can save your character's life with some common sense!

Moderators: This game will start out with one moderator, Piester22, who helped me create this RPG by supplying accurate historical information. He can play the game, but can also respond to other players' scenarios(of course, Pie, you should be fair or you won't be a mod for long) and will also be giving you a dossier before each battle. As the game goes on, I may or may not add more moderators.

Any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything, feel free to post!

Good luck on the Battlefront!

Battle of Manassas
I rallied my troops, calling for them to hold their lines. They followed my intstructions, when suddenly one of them was shot by another Yankee officer, then he dove into a crater left by artillery. I would have gone after him, but the smoke left by both Confederate and Yankee artillery was clouding my vision, stinging my eyes, my nose, and making me practically blind. But I could still hear the screams of the trooper that Yankee officer had injured. He was hurt, and hurt bad. He would die if I couldn't get him out of here, but if I managed to get him out of here and back to Richmond, then that would be abandoning my post. I didn't know what to do. *end of page 2*

"YOU CAN'T GIVE UP!" I screamed, "DO YOU WANNA LIVE FOREVER!?" I shot a Rebel, some kind of bodyguard I think, next to a Rebel officer with my pistol. He went down with a scream, but I think I only wounded him. It didn't matter, as long as he was incapacitated. He would die later. I jumped up, shouting for my troopers to cover me, and switched covers to a large elm tree. I saw a Southern general, he seems to be the only thing holding them together. He's like some kind of stone wall. He stands there, not moving, not under cover, screaming at his soldiers, who seem to respond. He seemed to be a likely target. If I could take him out, chances were that the other Rebel soldiers would just fall apart before their reinforcements arrived. *end of page 5*.

Journal of Lt. James Brown of the Union Army
Battle of Manassas
I aimed my weapon at the general, and fired. I couldn't miss at this distance, and I didn't, but he moved at the last second. I didn't hit him in the head or the chest, which would've killed him, but I did hit him in the shoulder. There was a lot of shouting and the Stonewall ducked down, clutching his shoulder, face wracked with pain. I had a clear shot at his head, and pulled the trigger, but heard only the ominous CLICK, that indicates your weapon is empty, and then I had no time to even think before the pistol blew up in my hand with a BOOM! My hand and wrist were badly burned and mangled by shards of metal shrapnel from the pistol, and it was useless. Blood dripped from several other abrasions the pistol caused, but they were nothing really serious except for the wound on my hand, which hung limply, sending waves of agony up my arm. I cradled my injured right hand with my good left hand, but the damage seemed to have been done. With the Stonewall injured and incapacitated, the Rebel soldiers didn't know what to do, and were disorganized. Some of them ran away outright. Almost immediately, the Union soldiers breached their defensive line. But I had no time to congratulate myself on the apparent victory, as I passed out from the pain in my hand. *end of page 6*

*turn to page 7*
I heard voices, felt a hand on my neck. I stirred, and tried to sit up unsuccessfully.
"Hey, we've got a live one!" called out a voice. Cool water was poured on my face, and I groaned, then sat up.
"Sir?" another voice queried. I opened my bleary eyes, and what I saw was real, not a dream. Two or three Union soldiers stood or knelt next to me, looking concerned.
"Lieutenant," one says, "I know you're hurt but there's no time to rest."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"This battle ain't over yet. General Jackson was injured, and we routed most of the Rebel soldiers," the soldier replied.
"So?" I asked.
"So, that was only part of the battle, I suppose. The Rebel general Johnston has gotten away from our Union troops who were supposed to keep him away, and he's headed here, right now! We've got to prepare for his arrival. Like I said, this battle ain't over and we may die yet. So get up, soldier, and start fighting."
I stood up with some difficulty. My injured right hand had been poorly bandaged.
"It'll be fine," another soldier assured me, seeing me look at my hand. "The field doctor says that the bones and muscles are fine, it just burned through the skin. Almost got a tendon, but not quite. You're lucky, but maybe next time you should remember that our weapons are liable to explode. Your hand should be fine in a couple weeks, but you don't have a few weeks. You have a few hours, and you need to get up and stop worrying about it."

Well, you didn't actually win the battle. Sure, you turned the tide of the battle, but don't forget who actually routed out the Confederates. Besides, that's how your superiors talk to you; one was a captain, another was a lieutenant, and one was a private.

Journal of Lt. James Brown of the Union Army
Battle of Bull Run*
I got up, and started searching the nearby corpses for weapons. It was disgusting and vile, and I hated it, but it was a necessary evil. I needed a proper weapon for the upcoming battle. However, I didn't search the bodies of my fellow Union soldiers. They had earned that dignity. When I searched the body of a Rebel cavalryman, lying by the corpse of his horse, I found a revolver. I picked it up with my good hand, and checked the chamber; it was full. I put it in my holster, then I heard someone calling my name.
"Lieutenant Brown!" calls the private who had woken me up earlier. "General McDowell's requested your audience." I went to the command tent.
"You wanted to see me, sir?" I asked Gen. McDowell.
"Yes, Lieutenant. I'd noticed your valor in the recent battle. It was you who shot Colonel Jackson, and turned the tide."
"Thank you sir, but I was just doing my part."
"Regardless, the Union will reward such heroism. I hereby promote you to Captain."
"Thank you, sir."
"Good, now stop groveling and start working, Captain! We've got an army of about 12,000 Rebels coming our way, and we need to be prepared."
I bit back my angry retort and left.
*end of page 8*.

*-I decided to make them both different battles, since you ruled at Manassas, but when Johnston comes, I'll call that Bull Run. They're the exact same battle in history, but I decided to give you your props for Manassas.

No, s'okay, this can still work.

Journal of Lt. Samuel L. Jackson of the Confederate Army
Battle of Manassas
"You, and you!" I shouted at two of my men. "Take the private to the rear. Keep him out of danger until this battle is over." They both saluted and one took the feet of the injured soldier, the other took the shoulders, and they picked him up and started carrying him away. Meanwhile, I carefully aimed at the Yankee who had shot my man. I didn't take kindly to that kind of thing, and I wanted vengeance. However, before I could get a shot off, he fired his gun at Colonel Thomas Jackson, who was hit in the shoulder. Colonel Jackson had been the only thing keeping our men together, and almost immediately even more chaos than before ensued. Some of my fellow Confederates broke out of their lines straight-out, but I would not abandon my post. I stayed there, shooting Yankees who were trying to route us until I ran out of ammo, then I turned tail and ran. The last thing I saw in the haze of battle was the Yankee who had killed my man. His pistol exploded in his hand and he screamed in agony, clutching the hand, then either passed out or died. I suppose I got my revenge after all, as I ran away, as fast as I could. *end of page 3*.

*turn to page 4*.
After I felt I had run far enough, I stopped to take a breath. Suddenly, I heard a voice, and whirled around with my saber at the ready.
"Sir?" asked an amazed voice. It was one of the soldiers who I'd sent back with the injured soldier. "You're alive?" I saw the two soldiers I'd sent back, plus the injured man, and another Confederate soldier I didn't know.
"Do I look dead to you, Private?" I answered gruffly.
"We are still under your command, sir!" one replied with a salute, and the others did the same. Then, I heard the call of a trumpet and a snare drum. I was sure that the Yankees were coming after us, but when I turned to face what I thought was my doom, instead I saw my salvation. A force of Confederate soldiers, perhaps 12,000 strong, with the flag of freedom waving high above their heads. Without having to say a word, we all went to them. We told the Confederate soldiers there what had happened at Manassas, and they told us that their commander, General Johnston, was supposed to reinforce the soldiers there...but had apparently gotten here too late. I told them that it was ok; the Yankees were low in number and injured already, but these Confederates were healthy and ready for battle. We still had a shot at this.

I rallied my men together and made sure they all had weapons and ammo, then we found some strategic, defensible positions.I also found and washed some bandages for my arm.
