Just as many people have said Area 51 is probably just a testing facility for the US government, but hey its fun to point fingers and say they have aliens and they are trying to clone them, lol.
Why do people believe its just a simple base? Guards have the right to shoot ANY unclassified civilians or whoever who pass a certain line near Area 51, go to Ft. Sam Houston, they wont shoot anyone will they?
I don't think Area 51 is just a base, but it has plent and plenty of secrets within its walls. Since it is in a desert really, I would think they have underground tunnels and facilitys since they wont have to worry about underground cables and pipes as in the modern city would have.
Another question, if schools have the right to search your locker, why can't we (at least with some extent of course) view what's inside what we want to see?
My analogy is people think it's right to search YOUR locker because it is their school. But this is OUR country.... Right? We have a right to know as much as whats inside as the military officials do.
Area 51 is indeed a testing facility for advanced weaponry as I have said. Its Area 52 that contains the more.....interesting...stuff. I really am not sure of Area 52's location I do know whoever that it is hidden very well. I previously stated one possibility for its location... We may never know the true location of Area 52 and those that do will most likely remain a very select few. One thing is certain,however,those that do know the location of Area 52 do not include the CIA, FBI, Or secret service..... Remember Men in Black? In a way it is sort of like that....

They would like you to believe there is nothing there. But if there is nothing there then why is access strictly forbidden and trespassers are shot on sight? Area 51 is just a distraction and a cover-up to ensure that no one discovers Area 52.....
It's a highly classified R&D facility that's probably used to develop and test next gen weapons and aircraft.
One thing is for sure it exists, there's literally a box of restricted airspace around the whole shebang. I'm not surprised the guards are allowed if not ordered to shoot first, ask questions later. And it's probably not the only one there is, odds are that this was simply a bone the govt. threw to the people, so we wouldn't get wind of any of the other more classified locations.
Area 52:
Also real currently used as a training ground for the armed forces, and the testing of experimental weaponry. It is also included with the protective airspace around Area 51. It's also being used to test nuclear delivery systems, and nuclear weapon stockpiling.
