I think this "alien ship" that crashed there was a US probe or something like that, and the locals just exaggerated it, and it sort of turned into Chinese whispers, until the thought that aliens crashed there came up, and that's what people thought ever since. I do personally believe that somewhere out there, extraterrestrial life forms reside, perhaps not intelligent ones, but taking into the fact at how big space is, there has to be something out there. anyway, I just think that Area 51 is just some sort of weapons testing and manufacturing plant, making all sorts of advanced military technology, Alien induced or not...
How dumb (or drunk) would an alien have to be to crash into an entire planet! I mean, the thing is huge (planet, not the alien)!
Jokes on the side, unless an Area 51 official pops up here on AG, this discussion is pointless. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if some rich whack-job built a huge useless complex just to drive the conspiracy theorists crazy. But that might even be more unlikely than the aliens.

I sincerely doubt that, if Area 51 were to have secret functions, it would be written on the internet. Google can only give us the official explanation, but it may not represent the real state of things, which is what this thread suggests. Though I agree, Google is still not used enough for most questions.
If I was insanely rich I would probably build some complex in the middle of nowhere just to mess with people. But if that was true than the military wouldn't be heavily guarding Area 51 with helicopters, humvees etc. If you actually look at it in google earth then you can see a bunch of structures, hangers and a building with cars parked all around it....
lol, if there are aliens, why did area 51 became some popular for common people? I do not think that US government may "hide aliens" inside the area 51, cos' it's an unsafe place anymore (for such purposes)
Heck, they might have some old models of those first speed-of-sound jets left. I'm pretty sure that aliens are just a theory; the Goldilocks areas around the galaxy are pretty sparse.
