I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion is. Is it right for the new modern government and certain groups to try and remove God out of things like school, monuments, the pledge of allegiance, etc.?

Actually i guess i should comment. At this point its more about Tradition. Being a believer i agree that they dont really have much to do with eachother, and how many of you really care what Obama believes in. but Tradition is quite important imo

I personally believe that Ethics or religion courses in school should not be mandatory, but rather an option course so that parents may expose their children to whatever level of religion they see fit. Whereas, when it comes to monuments and etc. I believe that history is exactly that, History, and should therefore be left alone by our modern day government.

Oh yeah put God in law and we'll die. What a horrible thing to do. Necessary. Rafterman do you know what the separation of the church and state really means? It means that public schools shouldn't be allowed to tell you you can't pray, It means the state shouldn't tell you which church to go to. That idea was proposed for christianity, not against it.

It is stated in the First Amendment, that the government will not prefer one form of religion over another.

Seperating church and state is right because the state will not have to heed every word the church says... Now if only we could seperate business and state we wouldn't have as many corrupt politicians.

Also it is so the state does not tell the church what to do also regarding corruption in government it will always be there.

Yeah... like I said. Way to go Rafterman. Y'know... seperation from the state as in it can't tell you what to do. Think too hard and this is what happens to ya.

Separation of church and state means to get rid of any relation between them, not to include parts of specific religion in things like the pledge.

That's cute rafterman. Do you believe in bigfoot too? Believe that stuff and you'll be believing in God before you know it. Down the long train of lies you begin.
