I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion is. Is it right for the new modern government and certain groups to try and remove God out of things like school, monuments, the pledge of allegiance, etc.?

Yup, so given the chance, what r u going to replace God with? 'in science we trust'. Or 'in nothing we trust'

Oh idk...maybe 'in America we trust' or 'in democracy we trust'?? if you need to replace it instead of remove it

Yes it should be removed seeing as it shouldn't be there in the first place.

I personally believe that Ethics or religion courses in school should not be mandatory, but rather an option course so that parents may expose their children to whatever level of religion they see fit.

Which ethical standards and religion would they be teaching in such a class? Even if we limited it to just Christianity (being that it's the largest one) there's still the question of which out of the nearly 35,000 variations should be taught.

With nothing so it goes...

Why in trust? Why not something more...appropriate, like terra of solvo (land of the free) or the good old fall back e pluribus unum (out of many, one)? We aren't asking that it promotes atheism, just doesn't promote religion.

And I think you have seen this picture before...

Rafterman do you know what the separation of the church and state really means? It means that public schools shouldn't be allowed to tell you you can't pray, It means the state shouldn't tell you which church to go to. That idea was proposed for christianity, not against it.

Separation of Church and State means what the 1st Amendment means. We cannot make a law based on religion, we cannot restrict religion, and we certainly cannot base our nation on any given religion.

Take it out completely? I think "E.Pluribus Unum" should be clearer than it is. Most people don't even know what it means. "In God We Trust"? Not everyone trusts God, if you want me to be blunt about it. "One Nation Under God"? We don't need God to be a part of our great nation! I'm not taking religion into this, but God is the reason why we are divided as a nation, why we are divided on so many different spectra, and why other nations are beating us, why I'm hating it right now. God is the reason why we have so much religious bias around here. We don't need to be a part of this. Taking him out will strengthen our nation as a whole, in due time.

I think all traces of God should be removed from the US coinage. The 'E Pluribus sum' is simply misleading - not everyone believes in a deity. I'd suggest multis e gentibus scientia or maybe semper liber

Why does any trace of religion bother people so much?

Well yes, I'm not too fond of having latin on coins. I'd rather go with 'United We Work' or something like that but meh - what're you gonna do 'bout it.

seeing as you implied the use of science as being unintelligent while using the fruits of it to do so I really don't think you have room to come off as condescending and demeaning here.

It seems to me you are not here to debate but rather troll and attempt to flame bate.

Because that is what Separation of Church and State follows. You are free to follow your religion to your biggest content, but it just can't be nationally implemented in our governmental society. Not everyone is religious and not everyone follows the same god.

I lol'd. I would very much like to throw a stone back, but that's against my code. I'll instead LAFF.

Ladies and gentlemen - we have a trololololer in our presence - we shall point, laugh and not feed it.

In seriousness, religion shouldn't be a national thing - it should be personal. Therefore, religion should NOT be on coinage - that's without getting into separation of church and state and freedom of religion.
