This is not about whether or not he was the son of God but whether he actually existed. Most atheists agree that he did live but there are some who don't so what are you're thoughts?

We're making some ground! Live a decent life, believe in God, chances are you are saved. Depending on how close of a relationship with God you'll be saved. Now, I have my doubts about then people I described in the past paragraph.

"There is probably no God. Now get out there and enjoy your life [with nothing holding you back]!"

Go to bed guys.

What is this b-e-d you speak of? :P

He did though, just because I didn't add that to my post doesn't mean he didn't. Now my example was directed to the people who try and take advantage of christianity. People say they believe and then dont do anything else, they don't live out their belief which annoys me.

Why did he have to die for people's sins? What function did it serve if everyone still has to own up to those sins he died for? To open the way to heaven? Heaven being paved in blood seems hardly perfect to me. This is why it's coming across as immoral.

We're making some ground! Live a decent life, believe in God,

That's not what I said. All I did was change the last part so the situation would read like this.

"I don't care, I'm gonna ignore you God and live my life how I want and be as sinful as I please" and goes off and lives a decent life.

In your hypothetical this person denies God. I'm simply making the slight tweak that instead of running off and committing crimes he just lives a decent life.

Of course he existed and exists but I would have to think that half the people on here would think otherwise.

I could do with some of that rundown. I dont have the time or patience to read it all right now, but I did see this...

Hm maybe god threw you all of those curve balls to test your faith?

Yes slimey... your sooooo right. God killed someones family to test someones faith!!! That makes sense! Once again your "logic" defys all evidence and experience.

AND Munky, it is continuing on my profile with him. It's rather frustrating.

I don't think it should be stated in such a matter of fact way.
This is the method used to determine if he was a historical figure.

Most of it was just slimmyfeet asserting his thoughts as fact and expecting us to except it as such. There was also a bit of back and forth on the morality of the crucifiction and having Jesus die for our sins.

I feel for ya dude. When someones first reply to me involves patronising, name calling and assumption on an extreme general scale, I find it hard to be nice.

I sorta assumed that would be the case

Either put forth evidence in support of your claims, or admit that you have nothing other than an opinion and quit trying to argue against facts. I get bored and short tempered having to say the same things over and over again. It's kind of like talking to my wife.

I lolled. And then clapped in agreement (in my mind anyway)

How does someone advertise a product? By exaggerating the truth

Why does the truth need to be advertised as a product or exaggerated?

Slimey, can you not look at all your responses and see that you dont make any points at all. There are numerous excuses here to explain things that you cannot know for sure and its all opinionated from your world view... which is fine... but stop saying these things like they are fact, proven and known worldwide by everyone except by the person your "debating" with.

Well.... it is confirmed to be a historical character. But if he was a god - it all depends on your faith.

I find even his historical stance grounds to question. Faith is no grounds to determine truth. So that should not be a factor in determining anything.

Well Asherlee, to give a rundown in a word; Slimmyfeet :P

Anyway, don't most of you guys have school? It seems we're posting at strange times. Well at least for someone living where I do it does.

It's 9:30PM here - I'm wide awake and ready to roll. I do wonder whether any of the supposed historical documents that show Jesus existed in any capacity are actually correct - I doubt any of them were written when Jesus was supposedly alive.
