Why do governments feel the need to make drugs illegal? If anything, it causes a lot more problems than there were before. If they were legalized, there would not be nearly as many violent actions over getting them since the prices would not be nearly as high. There would not been as many people over doing it with drugs, since it would eventually just become a normal thing in day-to-day life.
I just have to say this made me laugh. For some reason I imagined Wal-Mart with their commercial say "Always low prices for weed. Always!" and then the smiley face.
Someone will lose a fortune and it could be violent.
You know how there are beer companies? There would probably be marijuana companies. The drug lords would make off with their money. Now I know not every drug lord would make it big but they shouldn't worry that much since the price of their drugs would go down.
I have first hand experience when it comes to drugs, sex, and alcohol. I think I know how people will act once they start doing the crap to. Not me but my ****ing dad.
I am not going to lie and say "I understand" because the truth is, I don't. I have not been in your shoes and have no clue what you have been through. However, can you really judge all drug/sex/alcohol users based on what your father does? There are many who do not become addicted to it. Why are cigarettes allowed and not some other drugs?
Does anyone think "hardcore" drugs like heroin should be legal?
Well, I think this is difficult to answer. My reason being that if we legalize marijuana, what do you think the cocaine and heroin users will say? They will be very upset and say it is unequal. I really don't think "hardcore" drugs should be allowed because those drugs can easily kill someone on their first use. My mom works in the medical field and I have seen some kids die before from drugs like heroin.

I don't doubt or argue that some, maybe even many, people who try drugs wind up with problems, however, I beleive that those people are inherantly at risk for behavioral issues so I think if they didn't get into trouble with drugs they would simply find another avenue to self destruct.

As for waht age would be appropriate for legalizng pot, I guess I would say 21 just too keep things simple (alcohol 21 = pot 21).
What would you say to the argument that countries that have lower age limits on drinking also have lower problems with alcohol abuse, France for instance. I've know kids who have drank before 21 and then go off to college and are like "yeah, whoopty do. it's alcohol" and don't abuse it. Then I've known kids who haven't had any experience with it until they turn 21 and are in college and then they go crazy and abuse it and wind up getting a DUI or having their stomachs pumped.
I like to play devils advocate a lot. So don't take everything I say as being my opinion. I like to discuss and debate. Every once in a while I lose my cool, or become too passionate as well.
The government could make so much money if they legalized marijuana and then taxed the crap out of it.
The only problem is that so many people already grow their own plants, or know how to, that the government wouldn't be able to make any money, because people would grow their own for free.

well thats a really stupid thing to do bec if they did legalize them think about how many people would die and how many car craches would happen so many people would go to jail and its not a really good idea for that and who does drugs is a moron!
I believe that some drugs should be legal, but only for medical purposes. I think that the crime rate might increase because of more drugs getting into people and making them make stupid decisions, also there may be an increase in car crashes because of people being high while driving, all in all I believe that it would be a bad idea to legalize them, but cigarettes are legal while they probably shouldn't be so you never know what will happen.

Well I think that at least marojuana should be legal because of the medical benifets. But pretty much anything else would lead to the downfall of any nation if it was legalized; Currupt politians and law enforcers, high increase n criminal activities, endless. However cigarette smoking pretty much simulates drug addiction. lucky they're not in limited supply!
... If we legalized it, we could add a giant tax on it. We would spend less money on trying to get rid of the drugs. I see lots of money there for the government and, therefor, lowered taxes on other things.
How about putting a jolly old age limit on drugs so that youngsters won't ruin their lives without realizing the affects of drugs on people? It's what the U.S. does with alcohol, and it usually works.
Lastly, why does everyone think that making drugs legal would make a mass usage of them? Look at alcohol again. Yes, there are some abusers, but most people just drink a little. The few people who abuse it would abuse it if it was illegal. It would work vice versa with drugs.
I think it should be.Good point on how the violence for drugs would go down because it WILL.And imagine, if we legalize drugs then our taxes would go elsewhere than arresting people and prison care.But there would probably be a catch, If you use drugs you have more of a chance of getting injured, thus, if you use drugs you have to pay more for health insurance.
Drugs SHOULD be legalized, but (just like alchohol) should have limits, like of course no public indecency for drugs, or no over a certain drug limit on each drug.
