The topic says it all.

Why do governments feel the need to make drugs illegal? If anything, it causes a lot more problems than there were before. If they were legalized, there would not be nearly as many violent actions over getting them since the prices would not be nearly as high. There would not been as many people over doing it with drugs, since it would eventually just become a normal thing in day-to-day life.

yes weed does no real harm to the human body and also if hard drugs were legalized im not saying it wouldn't be safer and im not saying it would be safer if it were ilegal all im saying is that it would be easy for juveniles to get their hands on the stuff and it would probably ruin their life and the death rat would probably decrease a little every two years due to the fact that big citys have more people who use drugs like miami or chicago

There is absolutely no proof for that. The strongest alcohol that is also affordable is moonshine, which is illegal.

Lemme give you an example.

Take LSD. One of the key things to make it is a deadly poison, stricnide. And with homemade equipment, it's possible that stricnide will leak into the final product due to bad equipment. If the stuff is made in factories, the leakage risk will be much reduced and LSD will be less dangerous to use. Therefore, less people will die. ALSO, legalizing all of the hard drugs takes out a multi-billion dollar black market that's thrown much of Mexico into dystopia and leaves thousands of people dead each year. This is a key point to my argument that you're totally ignoring. If hard drugs are legalized, the black market will shrink monumentally. Like what happened after prohibition was repealed.

wrong, thats called moonshine and it happens all the time.

I know. It's only somewhat common in a few areas.

thats because the vast majority of the moonshine made is made in the south near the Appalachian Mountains.

Vast majority =/= all of it

There is absolutely no proof for that. The strongest alcohol that is also affordable is moonshine, which is illegal.

This proves my point. The moonshine market is very dangerous and very small when looked at globally. The black market for hard drugs is just as dangerous but much, much larger and much, much deadlier. If hard drugs are legalized, the black market will shrink, much less people will die, and the stuff commercially produced will be less danherous than the homemade stuff. You can't possibly think that beer is more dangerous than moonshine.

even then the black market would still be like a 20 billion a year industry and why do you want factorys to manufacture drugs

The black market would be almost nonexistent. IT would be a niche market, like moonshine.

The factories will make them safer than the druggies in old sinks and toilets. The risk of contamination and/or a bad product will be reduced, and the drug addicts will be in less danger.

You can't look at it globally because it only effects the USA.

and the whole LSD thing. Well to put it simply, LSD is bad for you and there is no way to make it better.

Moonshine, if I remember correctly, is a multi billion dollar a year industry.

just to list a few things that make up the black market that also make as much money as drugs do
Gun smuggling
Human trafficking
Blood diamonds
Stolen vehicles
Hit contracts
My point is the black market would still be large and out there

Legalize? No.

Decriminalize? Yes. A good part of our prison system is made up of non-violent felons. THAT IS TOO MUCH!!!

I say legalize weed. Weed can make us billions.

Alright. I'm jumping in.

You can't look at it globally because it only effects the USA.

That is totally untrue. The black market affects the whole world.
and the whole LSD thing. Well to put it simply, LSD is bad for you and there is no way to make it better.

Yes, LSD is bad for you. But there is a way to make it better. If it is government regulated, the black market in drugs will reduce in size and the drugs will also be more healthy. Also, the government will make money off it from taxes.
Moonshine, if I remember correctly, is a multi billion dollar a year industry.

And can you list a valid source for that information?

He never said that the black market would completely disappear; but any decrease in it would be an improvement. And if something's legal, there is no reason to go to the black market for it. It's simple logic.
Hope you don't mind, Alt.

I forgot about that. That would mean less money spent on prisons which saves even more money.

But you know what? If it's legalized and regulated, it will be LESS dangerous.

You can't look at it globally because it only effects the USA.

Well the black market for hard drugs is much, much bigger and IT KILLS PEOPLE. IF the hard drugs are legalized, the black market will
shrink drastically and there will be less deaths in it due to less size. There's always going to be residual illegal activity after something is legalized. But there'll be a lot less if the market is at least decriminalized, as has shown in the past.

Moonshine, if I remember correctly, is a multi billion dollar a year industry.

Okay, lemme try to explain this point more clearly.

1) Alcohol is currently legal, except for monshine.

2) Moonshine does not make up most or even a large fraction of the moonshine industry.

3) When alcohol was illegal, all alcohol sales became illegal.

4) When this happened, the black market grew extremely.

5) When it was re-legalized, only moonshine was left illegal, leading to a large deflation of the black market for alcohol products.

Same thing is true for hard drugs. There will still be a black market, but it'll be a small fry compared to how big it is now. The majority of the money is made from people buying from drug dealers, and most drug dealers will go out of business when hard drugs are legalized. Therefore, there will be significantly less money made in the illegal hard drug industry after legalization than before it.

I'm not saying it'll prevent anything, I'm saying it will reduce the risk and reduce the size of the black market. And it will do that. I've proved both of my main points.

That's another important point. If hard drugs are legal, we'll spend less policing them and we can use the money for more important things than chasing white powders and green leaves.
